#1 Front seat spring clips

Post by Spark » Sat Apr 04, 2020 10:58 am

Series1 2+2
Hi some help please
Rebuilding the front seats and refitting spring clips to hold seat back in position
Clips are the small spring metal attached to the seat Back hinge and clip over the part on the base
The passenger side has the spring clip on the door side yet the drivers side has it on the tunnel side
Should they be on the same side of the seat I.e. door side for both or is it correct as they are on odd sides

Thanks
Phil

Hi Phil,

Assuming it is the same as the FHC they are always in the left side of the seat.

In my 1968 series 1.5 OTS there are two small springs on each seat within the reclining mechanism one on both sides to lock the seat back into a position. One of my 4 springs was missing and had to be replaced. My car also did not have the 4 large springs that return the seat back to an ‘upright’ position that are found on series 2 seats, but i retro fitted them and i was pleased with the improved operation.
