You may wish to check whether your chosen adhesive cures via releasing acetic acid or somesuch nasty compound as you don't want to eat into the chrome. Conventionally, automotive trim cement would be used and this is petrol based.

One owner, who purchased one of my headlight kits, wanted to bond his bonnet flanges with "No More Nails". I drove 70 miles to offer him his money back before he caused any more damage. (Yes, he was a builder....)

kind regards
Marek

Hi Neil,

The seal goes as in Bill's pic below. Clean the back of the seal with some panel wipe or brake cleaner to remove any release agent remaining and rough it up slightly with 120 grit. Likewise clean the surface you are going to glue it to. Mask up the sill and chrome to avoid damaging them.

I used Alphabond AF178 applied to the rubber and sill groove to fix the rubbers in.

Hello Simon,
Neil's car is an S3, therefore, the Sill Seal is different to that used with your short wheel base car. The following picture shows the cross section and orientation on it's location in the car.

Regards,

Bill
