Preferred supplier of interior trimming kits?
#1 Preferred supplier of interior trimming kits?
I have been looking to buy a trimming kit but not sure who the best or recommended supplier is? Any advise here between BAS (S Wales), Aldridge, BAS (USA).

+1 for BAS Wales.
They provided my trim kit and re-trimmed the seats for me, including restoring the seat frames.
They were supportive throughout and even re-covered the grab handle when I couldn't figure out how the piece of leather supplied related to the handle.
Regards

Although I haven't purchased a kit myself, I've seen some of the work by Suffolk and Turley in Paul Brown's workshop, who he uses for all his restorations and in fact his own car too. The finish always looks exceptional.

Hi Barry.....Bas, Aldridge, Skinners etc......plus others all supply good quality products....however its down to who does the trimming...the above will do a great job...but if your doing it yourself its possible to get a great end result....but if does take a lot of time and effort.Steve

I didn't enjoy my dealings with Aldridge.
Parts didn't fit. They were quite dismissive.
Not a problem for me as I've sold my car now but I did resolve to never go back to them.
Just my 2p.

Hi all, I've fitted trim kits from BAS Wales, and Aldridge. Bas were perhaps slightly better than Aldridge. Their carpets fitted better. The most recent car was my Ser 3 3+2 which I decided to try and do myself, making panels etc using the old ones as patterns, turned out alright but I wont be trying to do that job again. The only parts I didn't do were the carpets and the rear wheel arch covers, which were done by GB Trim of Nuneaton and I can certainly recommend them. So first place BAS, close second GB Trim, third place Aldridge. Can't comment on others but I think you get what you pay for as they say.

Thanks guys, that’s most helpful. My instincts said BAS for the materials if you do some of it yourself. I’ll report later about how I get on. I just fancy a change from black to biscuit! Maybe a more comfortable seat too....MX5?

Do Suffolk & Turley do kits? If so, they'll probably be among the best. Their work is definitely top drawer.SEJohnson95 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 7:42 amAlthough I haven't purchased a kit myself, I've seen some of the work by Suffolk and Turley in Paul Brown's workshop, who he uses for all his restorations and in fact his own car too. Hi
Just finished mine using a trim kit from GB classic trim. We found the trim fitted well and any problems we had Graham from GB trim couldn’t be more helpful.
Not sure if Angus remembers the car he inspected it for me in Southampton about four years ago and commented on how badly the trim kit had been fitted, it’s only taken four years Angus but it’s finally changed.

Thanks for that tip, David. I had forgotten about Mick Turley, as he trimmed a Series 2 I had and it was fabulous. I’ll give him a ring...

I have made a good start. Bought a pair of MX5 Mk1 seats (separate head rest) and got a price from Mick Turley to retrim the whole car in Biscuit. I will be selling the old seats (perfect and retrimmed 18 months ago in black) and will post a for sale at the end of the season.
