Windscreen Installation

I'd managed to install the rear window in my '67 2+2 Series 1 restoration but decided the front windscreen was a job for a pro - especially have shelled out over £450 on a new windscreen. Living in Mid Wales I was expecting a real hassle getting someone out here. My google search turned up a national company, Auto Windscreens, autowindscreens.co.uk , and frankly not expecting a positive result I did an on-line chat with their call centre. 15 minutes later I had a booking with their master technician for the incredibly reasonable price of £100 +Vat. I can't get a Meile guy out here to look at the kitchen oven for less the £125 before he's actually done anything.

The technician turned up exactly on time, full covid protocols, and blow me he had the screen in within 10 minutes with no banging or cussing and not a metal instrument in sight. The filler insert and chromes were all done in not much over an hour because we had to fiddle around with pop riveting the side finishers. His boss then rolls up for some pictures for the house magazine and tell me the company has been keen to expand their business servicing the classic car market. I have absolutely non affiliation but it was really exemplary service from a company that is trying to keep old skills alive and I would strongly recommend them.

I used them to re-install my original Sundym screen last year. Great job. Like you, I did all the other original glass but the front screen was best left to the pro’s. New green Sundym is expensive and unlikely to fit as easily.

We always get a pro in to do the screens on our restos. Costs bugger all and they don't leak or get broken.

Experience is worth paying for.

Can I ask, did Autowindscreens supply the windscreen as well? I bought mine ages ago and all the parts and rubbers.
Would they fit only do you think?

Mine was the original windscreen and I supplied the rubbers. They were happy to just do the fitting.
