CAN THE INDICATOR / HORN STALK BE DISMANTLED

Dear Techno Wizards,
Having problems with the horn intermittent and now US.
My horn activator is on the stalk not on the centre boss.
The relay is working fine as are the fuses so the fault would appear to be in the stalk.
Is there a way to extricate and repair the internals as a replacement unit is £400 plus

Usually the wire has fractured internally at the base of the stalk. Sometimes you can solder a new length of wire on. You can also remove the top of the stalk and get at the switch itself - there are some photos on Jag lovers website on this repair.
Recently I converted a Bentley switch which is the same as S2 E-type except the arm is a dummy ie it does not have a horn switch internally - the switch is elsewhere on the Bentley - using a MK1 Ford transit arm which is the same as S2 Etype but the rest of the switch is entirely different.

Worked out I could unscrew the button which let the stalk cover slide back which revealed the switch internals.

A could clean up and adjustment of the connections and 'hey presto' its is working again but for how long remains to be seen!
