Made the front Cover! Classic Car Magazine
#1 Made the front Cover! Classic Car Magazine
Just to let you know chaps my 3.8 FHC has made front cover of Classic Car Magazine, January edition which bizarrely is out now! Some of you will recall my total restoration which was detailed on these pages under its chassis number 860897. I have yet to see the copy but the front cover looks great, the photographer was very , shall we say , artistic.

Thank you James. It was a long evening shoot in Tunbridge Wells culminating in torrential rain home so it wasn’t without it’s pain! When they wanted endless figure of eight moving shots in traffic it started to become a chore but the photos should be worth it

Sounds like a dangerous manoeuvre, or a Demolition Derby...
Nice car.

There were 2 mini roundabouts about 100m apart. Lots of traffic. And a 3.8 with a Moss Box going back and forth whilst the photographer gets a dozen or so photos to chose from. No fun that bit. Thx Peter

When it comes out, I think it's the one that my car is in as well!
Story is this.
Sam, the editor, wanted a 5 car shoot.
He wanted a series 1, a series 2 2+2, a series 3 and he had two other jags for comparison, a mk 10 and a 420.
We had the shoot at Chobham proving ground on September 30th.
Unfortunately, the series 1 chosen which belonged to a friend of mine in the JDC, a flat floor outside bonnet catch job, span out on a roundabout on the way to the shoot, witnessed by police. He had more than one bald tyre (! !) and was escorted home by the police.
So the shoot went ahead without him.
Sam still wanted his series 1 though, so arranged a follow up shoot to include that, obviously your car Richard!
Here are some photos at Chobham of my car and the others that made it that day.
FIRST TWO - my car being taken
NEXT - the four cars that made it!
One of the action shots; we all did this, but obviously I didn't take the one I was driving in!
Looking forward to getting the mag.
Unless of course Sam scrapped all the Chobham shots and it's just Andrew's car now!

hi Malcolm. I was in the XJ12 on the day and Sam asked if anyone had a 3.8 hence he arranged the other shoot with my car as well as the collective with yours! Yes it is in the same magazine as I have seen the preview on the Classic Car Magazine website. You were not to realise it was me in the XJ12 as well as the E type!

Yup, just checked, and it is the one my car is in.
Some great looking pics of my car from the small pictures I found on line.
The section on my car is headed "Best Kept Secret"
Not sure what the secret is, but can't wait to read it!

thanks Paul. And Malcolm of course you must be proud. No point in having an E type and being shy about it!! I ordered a copy on line yesterday but may have to see whether they have it at the Supermarket on my next visit just in case

Congratulations Andrew,
I remember the pride I had when I made the front cover of the E-type Club magazine, issue 100 no less! A much smaller distribution of course and I had to take all the photos plus write the articles myself. Still a source of pleasure and pride, plus a talking point at any future events. My car was on there again recently, although I was not expecting to see it in the magazine again. Perhaps my photography skills are better than I believed.
On my first event, I heard two guys speculating that my car looked “like the one in the magazine”, it was with great pleasure I enjoyed my own 15 minutes of fame after I confirmed the car was the one featured and I was the owner/restorer.
Anyway, always good to see the success of club members recognised, so well done. It looks wonderful.
Regards,
Simon

Wow, fantastic stuff gents! A professional photoshoot and a nice glossy article featuring your own cars. Looks great - how long is the magazine on sale for? I'll pick a copy up next time I'm out and about
