#1 How to adjust tex door mirrors???

Post by jamesmustain » Fri Jan 22, 2021 10:57 am

Hi All, I have a Tex door mirror on my car. When it’s in my preferred position for driving it flops back to near parallel with the door above 40mph. Anybody had the same problem and found a fix?
Thanks!

Have you got a photo of the mirror? That would help. With my ones you could take them apart (although it wasn't obvious) and there was a screw you could tighten inside

Depending on just which mirror you’ve got, one attached to the door panel below the window?
I ended up making a hard plastic washer to put between the mirror and arm and this gave both a greater movement range but also a firmer hold of the position.

I had the same problem with a floppy mirror!.........it was the swivel socket ball that was too loose. I solved it by carefully smearing Araldite epoxy glue around the visible parts of the ball and then using a hairdryer to make the glue more runny so that it seeps into the hidden bits.
You'd think it would lock it up completely but it seems to have worked...........certainly no floppiness now!

Equal parts crushed sildenafil tablets and valve grinding paste ought to do it.
