#1 New member from France with an E-Type 3.8 FHC...

Post by Antoun » Wed Mar 02, 2011 1:23 pm

Hello,

first of all I would like to apologize for my poor english, I haven't done my best at school...

So, I'm a french owner living near Paris, and my E-Type is an american 1962 3.8 liters FHC oppalescent maroon.

I have bought this car in october 2009, and a lot of work has been done during this period. The interior looks good (not great !!) now, after changing some stuff. The car was running quit good for an E-Type not driven during 33 years !!! But I decided to rebuild the engine which was tired. The body will be done during this spring, so hopefully I will have a wonderful E-Type in July !!!

This car was my first old one, but last month I bought a sister for my girl : a 1966 MGB GT.

Now I have three great cars with my E-Type, my MGB GT and a 2008 MX-5 NC RC 2.0 !!! This is not bad for 32 years old guy !!

Thank you ChrisC !

I drove it in 2010 during 5 months with 2 800 kms (1740 miles), and I can't even tell how amazing this car is !!! It's just like driving in a dream which is real !!! I have this E-Type for 1 year and 5 months and I have not realised yet that this beauty is mine...

I am sure that this car as a soul, like a human being

I am so proud to have bought this dream car.

Welcome Antoun. You have a beautiful patinated looking E Type! Are you making plans to come to Silvestone in July for the E Type 50 celebrations?

Your car looks great....right now with a car under going a seemingly long term restoration (painter seems to be hanging onto it forever) I am desperate to drive an E Type day in day out so you car looks particularly appetising with its wonderful patina.

Interior looks great body looks solid. Enjoy it.

V12 Commy too nice to even take the dust cover off. Feeling low and etypeless

Well, finally my E-Type was not ready for Silverstone (we found some "surprises" during the restoration of the body, but everything is clear now...)

Next week my baby will be ready for painting, and I hope enjoy it during september. The guy has done a great job, and made a lot of pics !!

Bonjour encore Antoun, d'un Anglais (famille Belgique d'Anvers) vivant ? Cambridge. Ma FHC est en condition similaire, mais esperant que vous avez du temps ? conduire votre belle maitresse cette saison, vous allez renouveler votre amour pour la voiture!

To drive it is to love it. Pity I didn't know you were in Paris when I spent a week there in May in the OTS....

Amicalement.

Merci Pete,

See you soon

99% of the British readers were taught several years of French at school Philippe, and this forum is all about nostalgia....

So what better than taking us back to the dimly-remembered French lessons of our youth, when the E-type was in production and it was a Stones/Beatles shoot-out in the pop charts every few weeks? :-)

on our side it was learning English and also listening to the Beatles, the Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc... right I know I am born in 61 and was teenager in the 70's ...

so should we start a weekly french lesson in the pub section

No fair! The little French that I picked up traveling in France many years ago is just good enough to get me arrested for accidentally insulting the waiter while I'm trying to order a glass of wine. However, I'm fluent in Redneck.
