Wilde has more than admirablyly covered the subject, on which I wrote an article last year for several magazines. Here is a photo of two low drag replicas, one Lynx and one by Simon Dunford:-
Here is one of the three Wingfield cars built. Strangely, all three were on the market at the same time last year:-
Here is another which has been languishing unbuilt for ten years now and which hopefully I may acquire:-
A 49 FXN copy, but the bonnet and a few other details are not quite right and need modifying..
I wish you the best in building a replica, but it will be an expensive and long journey. RS Panels, the masters of building these replicas, have a three year waiting list.

Just spotted on the Facebook account of a british restoration company. JC Restorations. They received a new Low Drag body from RS Panels. Full alloy, CUT7 body, it looks like to become a road version according to some details.

To be a true Low Drag replica it should have a steel tub. There are quite s few differences in the internal structure of a shell as well external shape for a car built as a low drag from the start and an alloy car converted to Linder Knocker replica, not just the tub material!
The former was built that way on one of the thin gauge steel tubs, the latter converted from a standard Lightweight.
The FIA have made a distinction for homologation purposes.
If it is an RS Panels monocoque it will be accurate but to whatever the customer asked for!
Example, size of the boot appurture dictates the size of the fuel tank.

You're right Dawnpatrol, to be accurate, the CUT7 replica should have a steel tub. FIA seems to be flexible.
This one is a full aluminium monocoque -> https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20145/lot/155
Now 846 FON resides in USA. The owner has the original 49FXN in his stable.

£215K would seem cheap when compared to the cost to build. But I see it has lost it's Wide angle alloy blocked engine which would explain a bit of it.
EC1001 was on an injected (butterfly) wide angle alloy engine when it left the factory.
Nevertheless, a good buy. I had heard that Mr Warburton had parted with FXN, but not where it went, I wonder how much??

Guys,
And what about a Lindner Nocker replica build from an OTS steel tube?

I have seen examples of both Rod Jay (Lumsden/Sargent replica) shell and many by RS Panels, whi I know well. Rs Panels every time for me, and they build any of the three. But you will wait several years for one since they have such a backlog of orders. I saw a wonderful 250GTO body there recently and the buck.
