#1 Malvern Newbie

Post by catnip » Sun Jun 11, 2017 10:12 pm

Evening all,

Just been doing some searching on active e-type forums and this one seems pretty busy with lots of useful advice - so I have just joined tonight!

I have a Series 2 OTS 1970 Primrose Yellow 76,000 miles. This has been in the garage for the last 25 years (major items being rebuilt) and saw the light of day again last November. I'm now caring for it and taking it for spins around Worcestershire country lanes. It's one of five Jaguars of various ages I am responsible for, so they all keep me busy.

Although the E-Type is on the road, there are loads of jobs I need to do. I gave myself a day off the mechanical stuff today and cleaned the cream soft top (surprisingly it came up very well), cleaned all the wire wheels (I didn't realise how dirty they were) and polished the chrome bumpers (including the rusty bits!)

The list of jobs to do is as long as your arm but I am tackling them slowly. I'll list them later. In the meantime, hope you like the attached photo from 1988. The 1964 Mk2 is one of the other ones purring at me for attention.

I'll upload some recent photos of the E-Type soon.

Thanks to all for the welcome. It is my intention to post a whole load of history of this car from 1988. This will include loads of scanned photos of rebuilds and work done from the ground up. I just need to get a roundtuit.

In the meantime, I parked some of the Jags that work outside the house yesterday. Hope you like the attached photo.

Ernie - Look forward to meeting up with some of the Worcestershire crowd soon.

BTW - I was trimming my hedge today and saw a beautiful red OTS drive past. We exchanged waves. Was it a local one?

My immediate problem is one of a starved fuel feed to the engine (could be rust, water or dodgy fuel pump) - causes engine to go lumpy then lose power then die on the road. Strarts again first time after a few seconds though. I am investigating.
