#1 Electrical question

Post by Bernie2015 » Wed Nov 01, 2017 11:11 am

Hi All,

I have a few things not woking on my 1969 LHD Series 2 2+2 and wondered if they may be related. The clock, the radio, the map light under the dash and the interior light by the back door. Could anyone offer some advice on this many thanks.

I don't have an electrical schematic for the Series 2+2 but I'd start there and see if these circuits share a common fuse. If the fuse is blown you need to find out why rather than just replacing it.

Bernie, is your clock one with the small battery fitted or powered from the car 12 volts?
So many of the old clocks have seized and the best solution is to send it to Mike Eck in the US. http://www.jaguarclock.com/
Radios were dealer fit so who knows how that has been wired up.
Map light, have you checked the bulb? Is it ok? Does it come on when you open the doors?
Fuse 8 powers map lights.

There are some very good colour wiring diagrams in the Knowledge Section, I suggest you download and print out, well worth having.

A few ideas and hope they might help.

Hi Bernie

I have access to large colour printing facilities through my work.

If you want any of the forum wiring diagrams printed off in a larger format then drop me a PM. I can print right up to A0.

I have printed off a few for people on the forum who consistently state they are very helpful. If you get them laminated they make useful workshop posters.

I dont charge - it's nice to give something back to the forum. It is such an excellent source of information and very helpful contributors.

Cheers
