Hi....whats you name......i know who David Manners are i was asking for a link to the actual gearbox so we can see what it actually is.....as far as im aware they do not make gearboxes....they are just a parts distributor.... Steve

Called David Manners....all they could tell me was that its new not refurbished....Cosworth internals in a bespoke case....could not tell me who made it... Steve

Pete, very curious to read you on this and would appreciate all comments you can share in due course: the type of box (Getrag or Ford), kit quality and whether any body mods are needed to make it fit, on a SWB or LWB?, how difficult was the job, did the lever come out at the right place, and finally performance....some pics...

Hi Ralph, if the Manners gearbox is as Steve says, the Broadsport one, there is probably the info you need in the other thread.
The Broadsport gearbox is supplied to Welsh Enterprises in the States who have some fitting instructions that were more detailed. I've e mailed you the pdf.

Sorry Peter,
Just seen this. If you go on Welsh Enterprises web site you can download the instructions. The main bit of advice I can give is to bolt the prop on and using the engine stabiliser offer the gearbox and prop into position and see what hits.
Rotate the prop as the knuckle and grease nipple if fitted are very tight to the recess for the handbrake lever. I'd probably fit the speedo cable first too although I did manage mine after. I also fitted a "p" clip in the tunnel to keep it out of the way. The holes in the gearbox mounting are slotted so you have a bit of jiggle room on that which is a help. It sits on two bobbins a bit like the 3.8. The gearlever unscrews on the shaft rather than dismantling the linkage.
And remember when you are pulling it out attached to the engine for the third time.... keep calm.
Seriously though offering the gearbox up on its own a few times will pay off.

Looking and the pics in the pdf, just a wild thought and sorry if it sounds stupid: isn't possible to grind a little bit of the gearbox rear casing where it sits above the cross-member to give needed clearance? It appears than only couple of mm would do.

Ralph I did consider that and decided against it but I can't remember why.
I'm back home now so will try to get some pics for everyone actually inside the tunnel so you can clearances better.

Comparing with the pdf, clearly your gearbox has been already ground quite a bit, to the limit even.
And it is also evident that the prop flange needs also a slight recess in the cross member, or else it would foul it occasionally.
Once more, thanks for taking the trouble. Now I know how to get prepared for the coming summer project.
And of course, hope to read Peter's experience too.
