Pedal box fixing studs

Dear all
Can anyone tell me where to buy the UNC/ UNF studs that fit into the S1 pedal box?
Also I’m having trouble working out what stud is required for the air filter to fix to the support bracket? ie ..is it UNC/UNF or what

Hi Robbie....someone will come along soon that will give you an answer....but do you know about thread guages...cheapest sets a few pounds....a bit like feeler guages but with small saw teeth along the edge to match up with threads...well worth haveing.....as a general rule the end into aluminium it will be a course thread UNC & other end into steel a fine UNF..... all the best... The filter box is steel so probably UNC ...it more that it’s full of paint and I’m not sure which tap to use

Robbie - other way round - steel is almost always UNF , and UNC is used for studs that go into softer alloy. A lot of the Jaguar ones, such as for the inlet manifold , are mixed threads , being UNC at the cylinder head end and UNF for the nut end

Hi Robbie,
For this sort of query, a good place to start is always the parts catalogues in the knowledge base.

For a 3.8 look in the brakes section and you will find “C18203” stud for brake pedal housing to scuttle. Then look on any of the usuals sites and you will find it eg Barratt’s says it supersedes to C2496* at £2.27. It is almost certainly as Steve says a 5/16 stud with one UNF and one UNC end.

For the filter housing look on the fuel system parts catalogue and find item 8 on plate 8 “C12705” stud securing air cleaner to support bracket. Again likely to be available cheaply from the usuals, and almost certainly in this case 5/16 UNF on both ends.

Once / now you know what they are, look for other cars like MG, Mini, Landrover etc that also use them and they will be a tenth the price of the same item for an E type.
