#1 2016. Getting together? 24th April Drive it Day at Bicester

Post by andrewh » Sat Jan 02, 2016 7:48 pm

This is such a great forum, and apart from a few of you I have never met the vast majority. I was thinking it would be great to arrange a get together, and mindful of the location of many of you, I concluded that the UK is at least the easiest to arrange as a starter. I wonder what you all think? I see Bicester is in the middle of the country (UK) and is making a good fist of becoming a bit of centre for historic motoring. We could perhaps ask them if they would host an E Type get together at one of their open dates. What would be the interest? I am happy, if David doesn't want to take it on, to ask them and try to organise.

Excellent Stephanie

How about Drive it Day, 24th April?

May I suggest that anyone adding themselves to the list copies and pastes the list adding themselves along the way? That way I don't need to do this every time we post. 24th April sounds good to me?

I'm up for it in principle, although a possible move could scupper me. Certainly keep me in the frame.

I was never very good at Geography, so apologies for that. But if this works there is no reason why another get together couldn't be organised for further to the north next time.

#17 meet

Post by cactusman » Sun Jan 03, 2016 12:01 pm

It is an excellent idea. Many thanks to andrewH for agreeing to set up. I guess location and date can never suit everyone. I shall certainly try to be there. My unknown is my dad who is not well and not likely to get better but fingers crossed I will be there with the E. It will be great to meet other forum members.

I know shows don't float everyones boat but I do attend a few local shows so if anyone plans to be at the Chiltern Hills show outside Aylesbury or Classics on the common at Croxley Green for example then most likely I will be there.

The weather here is absolutely miserable but spring is around the corner, the days grow longer!!! and the show season will soon be upon us once again. I was also tipped off about the first Sunday of the month classic car meet at the Goat PH in Hertford Heath. Not there today - given the weather a boat might be best - and probably not in Feb but I will get there at some point....maybe see a few of you there?

Excellent news. I will call Bicester early in the week and see what they say. It looks a very interesting place to visit. I follow them on Twitter and there is a lot going on there now. I assume we will have to pay to get in, perhaps, unless I can persuade them we are a great attraction but it's only ?5 per person .

I don't mind paying to get in tbh. Especially when it is places like Bicester and Brooklands where there is a team trying to keep heritage alive.

It's in the diary :)
