Parts pick up - Newcastle/Edinburgh

Hi everyone, I'm from Oz and travelling to UK in August - I'll be in Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow, primarily golfing but that's another story. I need a couple of E parts and was wondering if anyone knows of a supplier up north that I could call into and pick up from rather than mail order. Speci...

Re: Gearbox number confusion

More info on your car here...unfortunatly gearbox number isn't easy to see....Steve https://www.xkedata.com/cars/detail/?car=1S2345 Interesting site, thanks. The Chassis number you used is not mine - mine is 1S2346 and this shows a left hand drive silver car last seen in 2012 or thereabouts. Their ...

And the winner is britsobits. It is a 5. I found other documents from previous owners that confirmed.
Thanks for your input.

Excellent question. I can’t get to the car until Wednesday and will then have a look. Newbie question-can you see the gb number easily?

Gearbox number confusion

Hi everyone, I’ve applied to get a heritage certificate for my recently purchased series 3 roadster. They have come back questioning my gearbox number stating that it may have been misread. It looked pretty clear to me but the last digit may not be fully stamped. I’ve attached a picture of the plate...

Re: Cylinder Head Woes

Hi Henda, out of curiosity, what are your cylinder compression numbers? And when you changed from 5E to 6E plugs, did that make a difference on its own or did you make other changes at the same time? The reason I ask is my comps are about 100-110 across all 6 cylinders and the 6E's that were in the ...

Re: Cylinder Head Woes

As an update, I still had some misfiring issues with the 5E plugs so I bought some Brisk N17YC plugs on advice from some club guru's and these have made a remarkable difference - no misfiring whatsoever, very smooth and other members have reported some power increase. Also, I'm looking forward to th...

Re: Cylinder Head Woes

Similar problem to me and after a number of discussions, it came up that the compression while even, was low in all cylinders. Local e-type club expert suggested changing plugs from 6E to 5E and problem solved. Try that as a first and relatively cheap option before dismantling head.
