Re: Can anyone identify this wire?
Along with the bullet connector which is also modern, process of elimination probably points to headlamp area, possibly a wire to a side lamp, why this would affect the beam I'm not sure. You need to get digging really, earths first then live, although new work follows no rules regarding colour, so ...

We have, Simon and myself have mentioned holes, rear lights number plate etc, the large donut seal below the tank.
Is your rear window seal good?

Neighbours doorcam footage?, there's certainly a lot of this on youtube, is there a Faceplant or instagram forum for stolen cars?

Re: Two smells inside the car: GASOLINE and EXHAUST. Is it regular?
As mentioned above, the fuel take off and the fuel gauge sender, then next the holes. My car had no seal at the tank sump, this is a big hole, after making a ring from dense packing foam, I moved to the front bulkhead. Lots of holes here too, but probably the most obvious was the lack of a foam ring...

S1 S2 Auto BW linkage help
My 66 Auto has a missing Carb linkage part that connects the main throttle shaft to the kick down shaft, the number is C25804, does anyone know the dimensions for this or could someone measure this rod for me ( outside to outside will do ), the part is almost the same as the 3 linkage rods to the ca...

Re: Wire wheels, an idea. Your view?
I would check the internal splines also, if okay they will have a good triangular section with flat sides, when they wear ( particularly on the rear, from braking and accelerating ) they round the sides and in extreme cases the section looks like a hollow ground knife edge.

Re: Oil Pressure sender 3,8
If you are fitting as you mention above, a mechanical oil pressure gauge, then the only electrical connection would be for an illumination bulb.

I am in the same position at present as mine is leaking.
I bought a sheet of impregnated Cork ( 2mm I think ), when the time comes I'll make my own.
The after market ones looked far too thin.

S1 vacuum for 123 Ignition
I would like to use manifold vacuum for my 123+, but searching here and far ( google ) I can't find a conclusive thread that directs to the ideal location of a tapping for the vacuum take off on an S1 4.2 manifold. I know the ported system on the HD8 at idle can be ignored on the 123 by using the " ...

Re: Throttle linkage assembly and bulkhead bush
Hi Dave, re the wiper motor, I had thought the same and that if something came away internally then this would be a nightmare, but I have removed the lower bolts a few times now, but the uppers were just loosened, plus I only ever lifted the motor just enough to get a 1/4 drive socket under and onto...

Re: Throttle linkage assembly and bulkhead bush
If you remove the rear bracket as mentioned above, this will allow the rear linkage to be removed, then remove the two ball studs C18941/2 and the forward linkage can be removed. The ball part of these studs will probably be worn.

Re: Throttle linkage assembly and bulkhead bush
The bulkhead mount is a real fiddle, I removed the wiper motor lower bolts and loosened the uppers, this gave a slightly better access. I turned my own bush from Delrin stock, taking into account that the longer the insert fore and aft, the more friction it will create as the engine moves, making op...

Re: Coupe or 2+2?
I too thought the same, I never even gave the 2+2 a thought, it was always a S1 FHC or nothing. Until a 2+2 came up ( without a Webasto!!!!! ), it needed work but it just looked right, darker colours do help hide the larger cabin I feel. Some of the time there are 3 of us and the +2 is perfect for t...

Thanks Bill, yes Steve the previous owner had put S2 calipers on the rear, whether these will pair with 18/4's I need to look into.

S2 upright on a S1
Are there any differences that would make fitting S2 uprights to a S1 car difficult, ie does any geometry change, steering track contact, ball joints etc. The reason I ask is I have quite a few Girling 18/4, 16/4 calipers along with various AR/BR and CR too, the problem is all these calipers have a ...

Re: rough running
Couple of things come to mind. Firstly I would be looking at the dwell mechanics, is the base plate loose, is the connection to the adv unit good, free but mildly stiff? when operating the vacuum. Next would be electrical, loss to earth etc, another problem that can happen if the rotor arm passes ( ...

If you have any Cleco's use a couple or 3 as locating ref before you dismantle, failing that 1/8 or 3/32 pop rivets are good locators.

Personally I would put an ad in the Wanted section, someone here is bound to have one. Seems ebay prices are still in the realms of the E being worth what it was 10 years ago.

Re: 2+2 door lock fitting
That's what they look like inside ( apart from the score of the lock turning ), what you can't see in the picture is only visible with the lock removed, you will see then that the door and the lock have matching flats, or in your case worn ones. Edit, you do have the gasket on the outside between lo...
