Re: Size of SU idle mixture screw
Thanks. I will try the instrument nuts. I did email Burlen but no reply yet. What an odd size screw but as Peter said, it is old technology.

Size of SU idle mixture screw
Hello. Does anyone know the size/pitch of the idle mixture (jet adjusting) screw on SU carbs. It appears to be a #6 but has an unusual thread count and I don't know if it's SAE or BSW. Burlen part number is WZX 981. Thanks.

Re: Using Twin Lambda sensors - anyone else tried this ?
Yes, I just installed the Innovate dual lambda kit in my series 1 FHC. http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h376/Annivar/Innovate.jpg This includes 2 O2 sensors and a dual gauge that can be toggled to display in A/F ratio or lambda. The impetus for this was that I noticed last summer that when I thou...

FHC rear view mirror attachment
Looking for help on how to attach the triangular rear view mirror base to the car. The parts book calls for 3 machine screws. I have 3 holes in the front headliner trim piece and another 3 holes in the body above the windshield opening but no captive nuts or a plate to bolt to. Thanks.

I replaced this and bought the linkages. With the engine in place however it is clear that the slave shaft is too long. The first photo...

Series 1 vs. series 2 seat back frames
Apart from the headrest bracket, does anyone know if there is a difference between the series1 4.2 and series 2 seat back frames? I'm asking because I have series 2 seats (ratcheting recline and headrest pockets) and I plan to recover them. I would prefer to use series 1 covers ( my car is series 1)...

More pictures for the experts. First is the bulkhead from the front and second is the right under dash showing the heater door opening. The inner edge is about 20 cms from the midline. Same for the left opening. I assume that if this car was equiped with air conditioning the large opening to the rig...

Thanks for your responses. The large holes being for factory A/C makes sense. Attached is another photo from the rear showing the light openings (series 1 or 1 1/2). If I understand it correctly, air conditioning was rare before 1966. This car is supposed to be early to mid sixties. It has a 4.2l en...

Firewall holes
I recently purchased a series 1 E-Type. It was sold to me as a 1964 but the chassis number dates it to 1962. As is often the case it has changed hands several times, is partially disassembled and several pieces are missing including the ID plate. Attached is a photo of the firewall with 4 holes mark...
