Re: Passenger Door 1961
My passenger door works and locks perfect with blank door handle and no key so I am going to leave it. Who knows what they fitted around that period.

Re: Passenger Door 1961
Hi Bob
Maybe but its a very early car August/September build and from what info I can gather some early cars had the plain button and locked from the inside, just trying to find out from other early car owners if its correct.
Thanks for your reply

Passenger Door 1961
Just want some confirmation that my passenger side door handle that just has a button and no key is correct. It’s September 1961 OTS 850166 has lots of early features and I think this is one of them, can anybody confirm with any certainty.
Thanks
Steve
Thanks

Re: Help on parts series one 1961
I will ask Angus about his header tank, looks like the way to go if he still makes them.
I did think about cutting the flange, I’m sure thats been done before also it looks ok.

Help on parts series one 1961
We are now (well Classic & Sports Cars Essex are) getting to the stage of rebuilding the car after the extensive body restoration. I need help on my RHD OTS 21st September built chassis 850166 OSG/Red car. I'm finding that a September 1961 build had a lot of parts that changed around that period. Sh...

Re: Opalescent Silver Grey code
Hi Geoff Thanks for the reply, appreciate your help. I will be spraying the car OSG as I’m keeping the car as Original as possible. I also like the colour which helps, so just need the correct paint code. Don’t want to go down a rabbit hole on whats the best colour. https://i.postimg.cc/28qtbCys/GIF...

Opalescent Silver Grey code
850166 After what’s been a long and expensive body restoration we are close to painting my 1961 OTS RHD. I’m going back to the Original colour of Opalescent Silver Grey. What I need is the paint code, lots of different posts about colour codes on the forum. There seems to be a light OSG and a dark O...

Re: Body Number Tags
Thanks for the reply it does help me, I note your body number R 1623 is earlier than my body number R 1767 and mine was built in September ? So maybe mine might be correct. Nothing surprises me now about Numbers, Tags, ID's and parts I'm finding out on my restoration.

Body Number Tags
Could Somebody tell me where my Body Number Tag should be. My car is a RHD build date September 1961 chassis 850166. I thought a small tag with R 1767 stamped should go on the bulkhead right hand side but I have a tag in the boot on the left hand side which should be for a later car maybe put there ...

Re: New 3.8 smooth sump
The sump is a brand new smooth 3.8 sump exactly the same specifications as the original in 1961. I’m into a nut and bolt restoration trying to keep it looking as original as possible. It was not cheap but it’s the only way I could get a perfect non repaired welded sump. I will sell my old one it doe...

Can somebody tell me the date when the the rubber boot seal changed from the lid to the body.
My car was built 21st Sept 1961 OTS chassis 850166 just wondering if mine should be on the lid.

Hi David
Thanks for your reply, can you confirm it is the correct wiper motor for my E Type 850166.
I would get it reconditioned and painted as you described.

Hi E Type 3.8 OTS I am after a 1961 wiper motor and this is for sale as a RHD 1961. Not sure why it’s blue has anybody got any ideas. Could be just overspray I suppose. https://i.postimg.cc/pdVZxws3/IMG-0160.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/3wLZwt6N/IMG-0161.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/fRfKGzfx/IMG-0162.jpg

New 3.8 smooth sump
I have been looking for a good condition 3.8 smooth sump.
No luck so far as the ones I can find have all been repaired and don't look very nice.
SC Parts can get one made to order, takes 6 weeks.
Has anybody got any experience of the reproduction SC Parts smooth sump.
Thanks
Mont

Re: Series 1 OTS interior trim kit
Went to see Ian Howe and a couple of his cars today, I have much to learn about my restoration. Great help with my interior trim decision, not quite there yet but a great help, a coach trimmer will definitely be involved. Classic and Sports Cars Essex are carrying out the restoration, I’m working wi...
