Re: Zues front pads
I must have been on the phone to them as you were typing, thanks! They were most helpful, lady there gave me the item codes for all the pads they use for my car, LP17 Delphi BPP1011 Borg & Beck DP108 EBC MGB522 Mintex Mintex are the ones they normally use, good road pad apparently, but they are stru...

Zues front pads
Hi all,
I am into the front brakes on the car at the moment.
I need front pads, and the car has early (steel) Zues calipers. Anyone know what pads they are? They look very familiar to me, like maybe XJ pads?
Thanks,
Steve.

BD20893, WHICH WAY ROUND??
Hi all, I have come to the front bumpers... The previous owner had began the process of aligning the front bumpers, but (sadly for me!) didn't get them finished before I bought the car from him... I have removed them completely as there was a bit of a mis-match of bolts/washers/rubber pads fitted so...

Re: PREVIOUS OWNERS
PT was a Durham registration, I think. You may (possibly) be able to get pre-DVLA registration information from the County Archives, if they retained old registration records. Similarly, if it was owned by a resident of North Yorkshire, that County's Archives might also be available. Great shout, t...

Re: Otter switch earth?
Yes but the header tank itself needs to be earthed because, as the OP mentioned, it's rubber mounted. No, Andrew is correct, the header tank doesn't need to be earthed, it's the body of the Otter switch that needs be earthed and it's connected to earth by the lucar under the bolt head as shown in t...

Re: Otter switch earth?
Hi Steve....I forgot to ask....do you have a relay for your fan....some cars don't....its a good idea otherwise you will have high current running through the otter switch...the relay reduces the current and you wont have a problem with the otter contacts burning out.....Steve Hi Steve, I am curren...

Re: Otter switch earth?
Thanks chaps. Steve, my wiring has been messed about with as it has had a manual fan switch fitted. I have run a temporary earth from the header tank fixing bolt to the picture frame and it all works correctly now. I think I will leave the manual switch in, in case I need it one day! I'll leave the ...

Re: Otter switch earth?
Thanks Sean. The diagram isn't much use, I did look at some other threads related to this but there isn't an answer so far. Surely Jaguar never expected the earth to be via the coolant? It doesn't work! I have a 50/50 bluecol mix in my car, and like you said it won't work above a certain %?? Anyway,...

Otter switch earth?
Hi all, I have a silly issue that's bothering me as I cannot remember from the days I was working on these cars how the header tank is earthed? The wiring diagram shows the cooling fan system in very simple terms, Ignition switched live to the motor, earth to motor supplied by otter switch when the ...

Re: What's it like living with a moss box?
Hi Matt, I have a 4.2 S1 so mine doesn't have a Moss box, but I have had MKII's with the same box. First gear has a longer throw. Not an issue but it's the similar position to reverse, some say they have inadvertently selected reverse when looking for first, I never experienced that personally. They...

OK, A morning in the library was not at all fruitful.......But, I didn't have to go to Leeds, as I found out I could access the info I needed in my local library after all! I looked up The Yorkshire Post and The Yorkshire Evening Post as that was where I was told this chap saw it advertised and boug...

Re: PREVIOUS OWNERS
OK, a typical case of 'one step forward, two steps back' now sadly... The last know owner in the documentation I have is as mentioned a Mr Leeson. I found said chap, and he is now 67, and living in California alive and well! Had a long email exchange last night with him, and it is indeed him. He rem...

Re: PREVIOUS OWNERS
OK, Bit of progress...... The last known owner in 1981 is a chap called Leeson. Was thinking today, If I could trace him, I could ask him what he knows about the car. I am really keen to know who he bought the car from and when. Wife was helping me this afternoon and BINGO! Found the guy. Now lives ...

Re: PREVIOUS OWNERS
Part of the JDC (Jaguar Drivers Club) is the “E Type Register” which in the days before internet published books of all E Types known to them and often with the owners’ details. Have a chat with them and speak to David Leck who has most of the old books to refer to. Geoff Hi Geoff, That's a great s...

PREVIOUS OWNERS
Hi all, OK, at risk of repeating myself here but... I am trying to find out who the first 2 owners of my car were, to complete the history. I know that someone, somewhere knows these details, I suspect they are on DVLA's database. I wrote to DVLA and asked if they could let me know who the first 2 o...
