Re: SU fuel pump circuit breaker spark
John, Steve, Thanks for your input. I am pretty sure the blue component is a varistor (no markings on it) which came from Burlen some time ago and it is dual polarity. I would like to keep it this way since as my spare, this pump should work on pos. and neg. earth. As for the spark, it went away aft...

Re: 1965 4.2 LHD FHC Wiring Harness Questions
Hi, The following pictures might be of help. The harness is very probably original. The metal tabs are body color with a black sleeve. I think a PVC or a heatshrink tube will do. SU fuel pump circuit breaker spark
Hello forum, I have a working SU pump AZX 1307 with mechanical contacts. I have tried 2 varistors of the same type and an original capacitor and the spark intensity seems to be the same as per the foto. I wonder if anybody can tell me if the spark I see is normal. Re: Self-locking nuts C8667/2 and C8737/2 (Nyloc)
Thanks astonman,
With your part no. I found them on ebay. They sell the long skirt version (8667/2) with the 2 divots and C8732/2, also with 2 divots.
For my car I think I need the version with 6 divots as per my photos. So the search continues….
Greetings
Daniel

Re: Self-locking nuts C8667/2 and C8737/2 (Nyloc)
Hello and thanks for the contributions. Here is what I THINK I know so far: - The 5/16” Nyloc nuts available today all seem to be less than 9mm in height. For the way I drive my cars today, i would not have any safety concern if the product is from a reputable supplier, but It does not really look r...

Self-locking nuts C8667/2 and C8737/2 (Nyloc)
Hi, It is about 10 years ago when I took apart my 1966 OTS, which already then not been on the road for probably 40 years. In those days I did not know about Jaguar self-locking nuts with short or long skirt (and about a lot of other E-Type things). Now the “refitting-is-the-same-as-the-removal” pro...

Re: Cylinder head thickness
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yNamXONPA5E Hi, Assuming the process for the Mk2 was the same, this video shows at approx. 5:40 that the head was clamped for skimming. At 5:50 it looks as if the head is sitting on the 14 surfaces where the d-washers under the domed nuts for the head studs go (quite a ...

Re: Cylinder head thickness
Hi Steve, This is a picture of my Jan.1966 OTS with matching numbers. I looks as it as never been machined since on the side there is still a stamped number on the „rib“ (not sure this is the right term). Since the head is still on the bench (even so it was taken off more than a decade ago), I could...

Brake and clutch cylinders
Hi everyone, My Jan. 66 S1 has been off the road for probably 50 years. It looks as if the clutch cylinder is somehow plated (cad or zinc?) and the slave plain cast iron. Not sure about the brake master and servo cylinders. They are mainly rusted and it could be black paint or just cast iron. Since ...

Firewall blanking plates sealing
Dear forum members, I am finally starting to put back together my 66 OTS after disassembling it almost 10 years ago. I would like to keep it original as much as possible. To a lot of questions I found answers here, but there are some (actually quite a few) remaining. Here is the first one: Is the se...

Re: brake servo spring position
Hello Mark, The following link, which helped me when I had pedal kick back (Thanks Ralph), has a drawing with the correct position. Additionally, there is a description in the S3 Workshop Manual. Hope this helps and greetings. Daniel https://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7346&hilit=Pedal+kic...

Re: Series 1 4.2 Stereo Speakers
Hi Andrew, Also looking at this topic for my project. Found the Roadstar DRS-22 with installation depth of only 35mm, so it would fit also with a larger radio. Not sure about availability in EU/UK or quality. I have seen them on US Ebay and Aliexpress. Greetings https://i.postimg.cc/tTJNxsyG/IMG-411...

Might be worth checking if the old sealer ring is still inside the manifold (don’t ask why I am asking.).

Re: Gear lever free play
Hi Simon, It is some time since I assembled the gearbox and it is an S1, but the parts book confirms: the double coil spring washer goes between the pivot jaw and the tufnol washer. An older post „fitting gearstick shifter“ https://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14548 might also help. Greetin...

Thanks for the welcome. I hope at least the signature works now. As for the picture, I will have to study the topic: I see the Imgur picture in the preview nd when I look at my post in the forum, but apparently it is not visible to others. Maybe there is a reason why it took me so long… https://imgu...
