thanks adam, but repairer made some up and only charged minimal to fit . he pop riveted but of course couldn't spot weld so used a silastic to seal the verticals to door. still no rain to test it.....c,mon!!

problem solved.. seems that the guide on fixed catch mechanism was bent back and not guiding the hatch latch!! neatly into the catch! a bit of persuasion with hammer to re-align and all good again.... thanks to all.

update..... got the E back home today from fabricator who made up the drain-ducts and placed them(4 each side) to marry up with drain holes in doors. He tested them prior to fitting and had water running into car from sills at stand-still after some minutes. No water after fitting with same test and...

Hi Larry, thanks and will now go check those door sill rubbers that they do indeed run the length of the sill... but could you please expand on that area"between wind shield and the car body" in more depth please. without pictures, i,m at a loss to comprehend ..( mis-spent youth is my excuse)

yes mystery type, this is it. absolute rubbish. i only watched it once and if it wasnt for the Etype( and being mine now) i would throw the DVD out. So good luck if you can stomach it. The car,fortunately, features fairly early on by memory. cheers warren

thanks for all the advise so far. great forum for getting answers and ideas. i had emailed my supplier of the daytons here in OZ and today received a reply....."no we dont stock any cleaner, but as long as it specifies 'wire wheels ' its OK as many cleaners are for alloys"! can someone please explain to this novice,why when i jacked up the rear near-side of my 65 series 1 , i had some play(which i thought may be bearing but both rears had it so dismissed) and could not rotate wheel without getting massive resistance as if in it was in gear. some sort of diff lock, LSD?...

i have a 65 series 1 which was a feature(well it was in there) in the movie, "Shaker Run" with Leif Garrett!! The E and NZ scenery were the highlights . This car is now in Oz with me... maybe this can be added to your knowledge bank.... cheers
