Hello, contacted him via mail, and he replied over the weekend. Will send me some more pictures, then I?ll know a bit more. No one is claiming that it is a real factory hardtop, but a close replica, I could live with that. Only claim is the production process is the same, e.g. 2 shells, textile head...

hardtop on ebay - any experiences with Classic Car Parts?

Hello Richard,
thank you for the reply. Seems to be a reasonable way. You use no polish at all, right?

Cleaning the aluminium interior of a 3.8 OTS

Hello,
maybe this is a stupid question  , but how do you clean the aluminium dot-pattern parts of your interior? I?m hesitating to use my "normal" alu polishing, because it has those dot patterns on it.
What do you use and how do you do it at all?
Many thanks!

Hello all, thanks for the valuable input, good to get some first-hand experiences. Tend to get my distributor overhauled and then go for the ignitor, had that in my old 2+2 as well, and it served me well. But still the 123 seems appealing, so Tim can you tell me if yours is +ve earth? Thanks! Best r...

Distributor rebuild/replacement on a 3.8

Hello, I do have a ?62 3.8 whose distributor needs either a rebuild or a replacement. Is this a proper alternative: http://www.simonbbc.com/distributors/6cyl-positive-earth/jaguar-daimler-25d6-positive-earth-electronic-ignition Right now I have a DMBZ.6A (Lucas # 40617A). Or give the original one to...

Hello Malc, I owned a ?66 Series 1 2+2 for several years, and I have to say that, from my experience, neither the brakes nor the cooling is something that should shy you away from a series 1 car. Brakes on mine have been original and they coped with modern day traffic easily, given a not too sporty ...

Back in Business!

Hello to all, just being so happy,I have to share this feelings with all of you. After selling my 2+2 and more than 12 months of intenisve search all over Europe, having bought and returned a "basket" in the UK, I found, bought and brought back to my house, my latest obsession, a ?62 3.8 OTS! In opa...

Hello,
try to throw in my personal experience here. In my case missing carb damper oil was as well playing it?s part. With the same symptoms you have described, but maybe that is too easy.

Hello Angus,

thanks for looking at it, its gone anyway, so I do not have to worry about those things. But it is always very helpful to get a professional looking at it. Get back to you, if I find something else.
Best regards

Hello Andrew, your description seems to be spot on of what I have experienced. Good to hear that this looks like something that can be adjusted easily. Many Thanks! @all How about the clutch? Compared to modern cars it might be more heavy, but not as a training device in a gym, or am I wrong? Please...

Hello Christopher, head looks like the one I had on my 2+2, and as you said, front spark is close to front wall of the head. Cam covers are ripped, but doesn?t matter, manifolds look as well as they should, when on an e-type. Was wondering if there were supposed to be some differences in the water c...

Heavy clutch and strange throttle response

Hello all, drove a series 1 4.2 ots last Saturday. Liked it a lot, but clutch felt too heavy, although replaced in october 2010 and hardly driven, it has some "stick-slip-stick" effect when driving off. Different to what I drove so far. Even more strange to me, was the throttle response. First some ...

Identifying a cylinder head

Hello, found a car that is very attractive, but the engine is not from an e-type. Number starts with 7F..., found out that is for a 420. Now I would like to know what else has been changed, ancilliaries look all good and e-type like, but I?m not sure abpout the cylinder head. No engine number on it,...

Oops, just saw Heuers reply, so it has an influence in the UK, would not be the case here in Germany. Historical registration is for all cars older than 30 years and it a defined, reserved state.
Sorry.... .

David,
if you have this kiond of choice, go for the opalescent golden sand. Much more suitable for the shape and the curves of an e-type than red, at least in my very personal opinion. Bat tht?s what you asked for.
And the red interior makes it even more perfect!

Malcolm, you are my man! That?s what I call "having balls". Wish you all the best and tons of fun with your new toy. Why worry about the 1960? Can?t you just correct the V5C according to a heritage certificate, that you can get from Jaguar? There you have date of manufacture etc. and this shall not ...
