I have a SI OTS

It must be 6-8 months since I had the top UP

I love the air in the hair thing, but on the other hand I think it detracts a bit of the feeling of the car. It feels more cozy with the top up.

I would not swap it for a FHC but I wouldn't mind one for those rainy days

Sounds like a great idea to me. Cars are meant to be enjoyed and if you enjoy driving rather than polishing and searching the world for obscure original parts, why not I think the main thing is not to destroy what you have so it can be restored some time in the future. After all we are only temporar...

That should be an interesting drive. Don't think you'll need to use the gps very often though - there will only be an intersection every 250km or so.

Watch out for kangaroos !

Could it be a blocked overflow pipe that does not release the pressure as you pump fuel in, therefore stopping the float to rise and close the valve.

When I had the XJ SIII I hated the hand brakes. I spend hours under the car trying to replace the pads. They worked for a week or so and then they were worn out. Next time I dropped the rear end. Quite simple, but I had to cut the non standard exhaust so it needed to be welded after the quite simple...

I think he had some work on engine, suspension, gearbox - the lot.
No Moss crash box here.

He has also had all fear removed from his brain.

This is the back of my console. It has an 'old look' modern USB, mp3 etc radio and 2 x 4" speakers 2" deep. It only just fits. Speakers seem to be readily available and have decent sound for their size. (Not that I ever listen when I'm driving - I turn them on on the garage sometimes) http://i358.ph...

I have the Moss box in my '63 OTS.

At first the crunching of gears and taking off in reverse was a bit unnerving but now I feel that it gives the car more character and it is truer to what it was when it was new.

I would not want a 5speed now unless I was to drive it on a daily basis.

Well, my MK1 SNG pump had no resin in it at all. It was only the rubber ring doing all the sealing.

If the resin they have used can withstand the petrol and does not crack or separate from the brass sleeve it should last.

I had a closer look at my leaking (now replaced) pump. The power cable is 'sealed' by a rubber donut inside a brass fitting that shrinks as you tighten it. I found 3 problems. 1. The power cable diameter had shrunk quite a bit, probably due to the pressure from the rubber donut. 2. There was heat sh...

Alex at SNGB sent me a new pump on my report of the problem.

It arrived yesterday and is the same type as David's modified version.

I have installed it and filled up the tank.

No leaks, so all good sofar. Hopefully the sealant around the cable is of the lasting type.

Definitely. It is not terribly safe having petrol pouring out of the tank.

Lets hope everybody who bought one are aware of the problem. I would hate to hear of somebody getting hurt or killed because his E-type blew up.

I finally got my car back on the road and filled it up.

Sure enough, there is a lot of fuel leaking out around the power cable.

I have contacted SNGB and am waiting for an answer.

You have probably bent the arm.

I had that problem too. A vice and a hammer plus a bit of sharpening of the hook got it back working again.

You need to be wary of ANY old car. You may be able to judge the paint, the leather seats, the tyres but hidden rust and mechanical condition is harder. A car that has been laid up for 12 years is not a car you buy and expect to start driving without a lot of service and reconditioning. If you were ...
