Hi all,
I‘m looking for the link that connects the Stromberg carburetors to the slave shaft. It can be seen in this picture here. Any help is appreciated. Thanks,
Chris

Re: Which Fuel Tank for a 2+2?
That some great information, Simon. I have scrounged a few pictures from EBay which show the differences. The first pictures show the old tank and last the later version. All I need to do now is check the filler when I get back home. https://i.postimg.cc/cCkHHYnf/07-EB97-BC-1-B1-B-456-D-8-B2-C-89-CB...

Which Fuel Tank for a 2+2?
My Series 2 2+2 restoration is coming on very nicely now and I've reached the point, with the engine installed, that I'm starting on the fuel system. the fuel lines and everything are installed, the Zenith carburetors are fully restored and will also be mounted very soon, so moving up on the to-do l...

Series 2, 2+2, when were armrests deleted
Hi All, My 2+2 is 1R41839. I am currently working on restoring the door cards. While searching the internet I found out that the armrests must have been deleted shorty before my car was built. On xkedata I found 1R41824 with armrests and 1R41829 without. Between those two cars the armrests must have...

Re: Cable protector in footwell on Series 2, but not 2+2
Thanks for those pictures, Carsten (Hope you didn‘t have to dismantle it again to take them). It surely matched your previous description of folded cardboard. In the mean time I‘ve found mine, which is also folded cardboard covered in black vinyl, although the interior was suede green. Mine is in re...

Re: Cable protector in footwell on Series 2, but not 2+2
Thanks to everyone for helping here. I do believe the cable protector was installed on the 2+2 but is simply not included in the parts lists, for whatever reasons. Chris Rooke also shows this in his book on pages 226 and 228, with detailed pictures, which are also very helpful. I‘m intrigued by Cast...

Re: Cable protector in footwell on Series 2, but not 2+2
Hi Steve,
thanks for that information. It looks as if the 2+2 certainly also had it. I haven‘t decided yet which one I‘m going to order. Maybe an original hockey shaped one will show up on eBay, who knows?

Re: Cable protector in footwell on Series 2, but not 2+2
No problem, Carsten. I‘ll just order one through BAS. They seem to be the only ones who stock it these days.
But can anyone explain why it was not used for the Series 2 2+2?
Chris, in Germany

Re: Cable protector in footwell on Series 2, but not 2+2
Hi Carsten, BAS has it in their catalogue for Series 2 OTS and Coupes, but not for the 2+2. I guess there‘s nothing wrong with installing one in a S2 2+2, to hide and protect the cables. Pappkarton (cardboard in english) sounds a bit flimsy. Could you provide dimensions? Then I could have on made fr...

Cable protector in footwell on Series 2, but not 2+2
Hello All, It appears that the Series 2 cars had a cable protector in the left side footwell as a conduit of some sort. By going through the parts lists it seems that the 2+2 didn‘t have it, which can only mean that harness was routed differently. Is this correct? The part is number 37 on the image ...

Re: D-Type rims for a S2 Etype
Hi Patrick, Judging by what you wrote I am assuming you‘re based in Germany, like myself. I can‘t provide any information that might help, other than having seen a fhc with D-Type wheels at Kamps-Classics in Kevelaer, Niederrhein. It was a customer‘s car and was probably there for maintenance or ser...

Re: Overdrive in E-type
Hi Grahame, I know you are looking for a factory built E-Type, but I thought this might still be interesting. I’m putting an overdrive in my 1969 2+2, and in fact we put the engine in yesterday. The car left the factory with an auto gearbox, so we had to make some considerable changes to the gearbox...

Hi Iradek, the engine bay looks fine to me. I'll have to look it up I think mine is also from September 69. The cam covers are the right ones for late '69 (without the 'broken' ribs). The hot water expansion tank should be black and not polished brass, so that's correct as well. The windshiels washe...

Which Starter for a 1969 2+2 Manual?
Hi, I've just heard that the starter that came with my restoration project is totally shot, so I need to get a new one. I always thought that any E-Type starter would fit, but I think I read somewhere recently that that is not the case. My car is a 1969 Series 2 2+2 that is being restored with a 4.2...

Does the Heater Box get hot?
My heater box is slightly pitted on the outside, but instead of getting a new one I want to repaint it and fill the pitting with Bondo body filler or something similar. However, if the heater box gets very hot when in use the filler and paint might bubble, damaging the surface. So my question is, do...

Hi, can someone tell me where the jacking points are on a 2+2? We have replaced all floor panels on mine, but have no idea where the jacking points were. TIA, Chris

Brackets behind the dash
I've noticed these brackets behind the dashboard on pictures of other E-Types http://www.cdscaledesigns.com/Jag%20Page/Jag%20Images/09%20Body/bracket01.jpg http://www.cdscaledesigns.com/Jag%20Page/Jag%20Images/09%20Body/Bracket02.jpg On my car, they've all been broken off. What are they for? I would...
