Obviously a bad connection somewhere, so firstly check all power connections around the battery. However, if the engine is also cutting out , you are losing ignition power. Could be the ignition switch failing, which is quite common. When it’s running, feel the key to see if it’s getting hot.

You could always undo the rear flexi hose and plug it. If the brake pedal issue is still present, it’s not the rears.

I’ve just measured the lever gap on the S1 in my workshop with the choke fully on - 10mm. This is at B in your picture. Not quite the 5/8” as per the manual but this car starts perfectly from cold. Also, all three levers move this exact same amount.

From memory, each lever holding the mixture screw should be pushed up at least 5mm. I should be able to test and measure later today. Obviously, all three should be lifted by the same amount. If they don’t, you need to adjust the inter-connecting choke rods.

Hi Jerome, The gaps at A and B have nothing to do with choke adjustment directly. The screw at B is the mixture adjustment and shouldn’t be touch (unless you need to adjust mixture!) Yes, that is the tacho from the earlier S1 car that uses the AC generator on the back of the camshaft.

It’s probably just the calibration of your gauge or sender. The only real test is to temporarily attach a capillary gauge (mechanical) to show real pressure.

There are only three places oil can leak out the rear housing - the gasket, the speedo drive or the rear seal. Are you sure it’s not leaking from the top cover or selector rod and running down the sides?
