Re: Carpets
That's a shame, I bought the correct felt backed carpets from them in July last year. BAS probably didn't make the carpets themselves, so perhaps they could put you in touch with their supplier?
Re: Carpets
Jaguar changed the carpets to nylon flock, felt backed on the later S1 cars, this type of carpet was fitted to the S2 cars also. So you need to order carpets for a S2 car. BAS can supply these.

Re: tappet clearance advise
Hugo, the original cams have straight sides the parabolic cams are not straight leading to the valves starting to open sooner and close later (Increased duration). This means that maintaining the same gap as the original cams leads to an increase in duration. Increasing the gap has the effect of red...

1962 3.8? If you take a look at the pictures of the body shell it has a later 4.2 panel for mounting for the Lockheed brake servo and no cooling fan motor mounting on the picture frame as per S2.

Re: Crown Wheel & Pinion 3.07
3586 stamped on the crown wheel and etched on the pinion probably means they are a matched set. The cone setting distance should also be etched on the pinion ground face and is nominally 0 but usually deviates either side of zero such as + 3 or -3 for example. the other stamped numbers you refer to ...

Re: Crown Wheel & Pinion 3.07
The pinion should be stamped on its ground face with pinion offset and cone setting distance for that particular crown wheel and pinion assuming it's a matched set. The crown wheel in addition to the stamped information shown in your picture, should have the relevant backlash hand written with an et...

Looks like the release bearing is worn out also the input shaft splines should have a light coating of grease. In your picture they are dry and rusty.

If it's a wrinkle finish you can use this paint from Frost Automotive and if the part is aluminium use an etch primer first. To get the finished coat to wrinkle in an even fashion take the freshly painted piece into a very warm room otherwise you will end up with smooth areas (no wrinkle) http://www...
