Re: Christopher Storey

I met Chris a few times and communicated with him on a number of occasions. Always generous with his time no matter what the subject. As well as a formidable KC (someone who faced him in court attested to this first hand) he was a accomplished pianist. I’ll miss him and hope he and his wife are toge...

Speak to Radtech. They have a fan and shroud that will fit.

Re: New clutch and thrust bearing

I think I'd be concerned about the amount of new swarf in the bottom of the bellhousing. Where has that come from?

Re: Restorers carrying out work without approval - The bill.

Firstly this is an awful situation for all parties involved. We sometimes find that work goes over the allocated/quoted time even though we try really hard to be as accurate as we can. In cases like this, we sit down with the customer and explain what we have done (no point in falling out) and usual...

Re: Wiring Routing Boot Through To Front Bulkhead ?

Stu, you are right! I didn't even look as I thought Rory only wanted the answer on the sleeving. The sleeving is still used there as the bottom of the rear bulkhead is glued.

See, I didn't know best!

We route it like that in the belief that the glue could damage the loom.

Re: Washer motor. AGAIN

Don't forget to fit a non return valve. If not, the pump has to prime every time you use the washers and it will fail early.

All ISO 9000 does in my opinion is give you a paper trail to follow when things go wrong. They don't stop things going wrong. (And as Chris says, just adds a meaningless label to your company - a bit like SAP).

Re: Confession about using SEARCH, and Question about fitting engine

Why would you want to do it that way Rory? We build as much as we can in the engine bay first. Means we have more room when fitting up the bulkhead, running the wiring loom and hydraulic lines.

Early Header Tanks

As mentioned, we are working on producing a new, early header tank which will be as close as we can get to the original. The only difference will be the swages on the inlet and outlet pipes (the originals were straight but we feel you won't be able to see the swage with the hose fitted and it will m...

Re: Replacing Dot4 by Dot5 silicon fluid

Geoff,

All I can say is we haven’t had a problem with any components we have fitted from either SNG or Zeus. We buy our seals from Past Parts. The flexible lines we use are the stainless steel ones from SNG.

Re: Replacing Dot4 by Dot5 silicon fluid

We only use DOT5 in our restorations. Personally been using it for 20 plus years with no issues. As has previously been said, replace everything first if you have had DOT4 in the system.

Re: Roller release/throwout bearing

Interesting. We put it down to having to remove the ventral ring from the housing fingers. When removed, the fingers weren’t all at the same height.
