Thanks for all the feedback, much appreciated! I dont think they is anything up with my car, its just not quite as I like it, it may be just setup, I dont know yet, but I'll sort it. It took many weeks of tweaking my M3's KW suspension on my race car before I got that to where I needed it to be...I ...

Peter, I do appreciate different cars differences and idiosyncrasies, but remember that we now have suspension technology and development that simply wasnt available 40 years ago, so subtle improvement will simply improve the experience IMO. Im a fairly enthusiastic driver, and as such I consider th...

Finally!! I bring my E-type home!

Well today it was finally just about dry enough to bring the old girl home. Driving impressions....not too clever, but in a good way, I didnt stop smiling all the way home! Steering response of the QE2, lovely ride, wallowy handling, peachy engine, hilariously bad driving position and seat, surprisi...

"You will get an argument as to which is the best/most beautiful/purest, etc" No arguement at all. Series 3 roadster in red is definately the best/most beautiful/purest, no contest ;) There is no way I'll be picking it up for the forseeable future, moreso now the snow is here. However I am well ver...

I have had the front plate taken off my E-type, as you say, they look so much better. Ive run various cars without a front plate for years without a problem, if its a nice car the coppers are usually too busy checking the car itself out to notice. One the one occasion I did get a pull I explained po...

Thanks Simon Im not going to be very popular saying this but I chose the V12 over a series 1 or 2, I like the flared arches and the front grill of the S3, and of course its a V12, whats not to like there! I must admit I do like the rear end of the S1 better with the inset number plate and lights on ...

Thanks for the rather more positive comments. Perhaps I have given the wrong impression here....I have no intention whatsoever of ever setting one of the Jags tyres on a race circuit!! I already have three cars that were built for that!! As someone has said, I hope to be pleasantly surprised by the ...

Wow some fairly serious negativity here! I guess I need to address a few issues here I have brought the car from Nick Whale, whom I know from racing and has a reputation for selling only good quality stuff, so I was fairly comfortable from the off. CMC at Bridgnorth are localish to me so I contacted...

Some good advice, and its quite right, Ive not even driven it yet. In all fairness to the "inspector" he was told by the garage that I race a BMW and that I have a track focussed Ferrari so when I asked if there was anything that he thought may improve the car he was probably trying to suggest impro...

Well "my" car finally got inspected on Saturday, seems ages since I first did the deal TBH!! The reports revealed........nothing. One little blister and the modern stereo were the only negative points, he considered the SU conversion to be a big plus point. I asked him if there were any subtle impro...

Ah, thats where you are missing a trick, the "unloved" tag of the 996 means the GT3 RS can be brought for reasonable money, is fantastic to drive, and is a solid investment. Earlier RS's have already gone too far north to bew "investable" and 997's are a bit too digital, a bit too ordinary if that m...

Great Dane in an E-Type

This might be a repost, but someone sent me this this morning, funny picture, but what sort of a state must the interior of this car be?? Are all E-Type owners as nutty?? ;)

Ah, thanks for clarifying that Mike :)

Just hoping the inspection doesnt throw up any hidden horror stories in January, but I cant see that it will, the car seems to have undergone a fairly extensive resto not too many years ago. :)

Is an SU carb conversion good news or not? Am I correct in thinking E-types were originally positive earthed? Are you saying "mine" has been changed to convential wiring?
