Re: Radiator fitting problems

Steve, let me know if you need any photos or measurements, my rad is not fitted yet so fairly easy to do.
I wouldn't guarantee those top stays are the correct length. Have you got the little right angle brackets they bolt to?

Re: S2 wiring and bulkhead holes

I found the answers for the holes after searching through my photos from almost 11 years ago when I started the dismantling. No wonder I can't remember where things go. The car had the wiring for the wiper motor etc passing through a grommet in this hole. weird why it would have the cutouts. https:/...

Re: Radiator fitting problems

It looks to me from the photos that the bottom brackets are too far forward. The stud on the bottom of each bracket goes through the large holes in the cross member of the bonnet hanging frame along with the rubber washers. Hope it helps.

Re: S2 wiring and bulkhead holes

Thanks for the replies John, the hole with the cutouts is on the side of the tunnel inside the footwell, so nowhere near the bonnet release I'm afraid.

Re: Interior Trim - I HATE CONTACT ADHESIVE, but ........... this helps

Hi Rory, I will chime in with more, I am also working on trim with the dreaded contact muck, looking at the label on the can of Alpha S1358 High Heat Contact Adhesive, the first component is shown as Toluene . I think Toluene is used as a thinner in some car paints, I have seen cans of it at the pai...

S2 wiring and bulkhead holes

I am in the process of a left to rhd conversion on my S2 2+2 and have been refitting the wiring looms. However, on connecting the right hand loom at the top of the rh footwell, I seem to have some wires left over. There is a double bullet connector on the end of the dash loom with what looks to be 2...

Re: Radiator mounting top brackets

Hi Steve,
The rad top supports shown at the SNGB link are for a series 3.
For series 2 there is a joggle at one end to be correct, hole centres are 6 inches.

Re: 2+2 rear seat torsion bar.

Hi Steve,
My washers were to hand so have taken a photo, 1 inch dia. and 5/8 bore, thickness is somewhere around 30 thou using my micrometer fingers.

Re: 2+2 rear seat torsion bar.

Hi Steve, I don't think its a torsion bar as such, more just a connecting rod with the purpose of ensuring the moving seat section moves in a parallel motion rather than each side being independant which would cause it to jam against the wheel arches. Its only my theory as my seat is not in the car ...

Re: Automatic kickdown shaft

Hi Dale, do you have triple SU's or Fed spec Strombergs with the secondary manifold? The reason I ask is that they will most likely mount slightly different. My car has the Fed setup and the shaft mounts under the main inlet manifold and uses 2 of the lower studs of the secondary manifold that pass ...

Re: Lower steering column

Thanks again John, but not sure your idea would work. I believe the inner shaft is at its maximum extension as its belled at the end according to a drawing I saw, probably on Jaglovers site. A similar solution which would retain the collapsable section would be to extend the lower tube as it is only...

Re: Lower steering column

Many thanks John, just the info I needed. My column which is for power steering is 32 inches (81cm) and the same construction. Series 2 roadster, FHC and 2+2 use the same column, C29851 for manual steering and C30853 for power steering. Not sure what a Ser 3 uses, I know the power steering rack is d...

Re: E-Type Chassis ID Plate S1 Auto NON Power steer - Do they exist?

No I didn't correct it, it was correct and having checked the plate it is for an Auto with power steering but I would be tempted to ask if they could do the manual steering.

Re: E-Type Chassis ID Plate S1 Auto NON Power steer - Do they exist?

Hi Blair,
Maybe worth contacting Classic Reproductions in the UK, CP523 is an ID plate for Auto.
I haven't been able to check if it says steering box as the server seems to be down at the moment.

Re: 69 S2 2+2 RHD throttle linkage

Thanks Steve, I had spent hours looking in every place I could think of and was losing the will to live hence asking here on the forum. Although there are bulkhead shots, it is difficult to see any detail of the linkage. Thanks also to Andrew, though the parts diagrams in my mind do not show a 2+2 l...

Re: 69 S2 2+2 RHD throttle linkage

Yes, plenty of cars but the only one that shows a linkage is the one you linked, C1556455 and that appears to be converted from LHD, it also has the wrong carbs. I have been through dozens of ads and besides not many 2+2's (4or5) they don't show the bulkhead in the photos. Seems genuine original 69 ...

As per Steves suggestion, I have Googled and looked at Car and Classic cars for sale and other places but still cannot find anything that shows the linkage.

69 S2 2+2 RHD throttle linkage

Can anyone provide a photo of the bulkhead/throttle linkage on a 69 RHD S2 2+2. I have searched the forum and XKE data but have only found photos of the FHC and roadster which have a different bulkhead to the 2+2 and I assume a different linkage as the wiper motor mounting is different and there is ...
