Angus, Thanks for your reply. Beckenham very close by so I will definitely try them. The components look really good in your photo. Did you have to get them blasted before supplying them or can they do that? It looks like you got all the nuts, bolts and washers plated as well. I was thinking of repl...

Hi, I have removed my front suspension components and would like to get them plated. I have seen one firm on the web that does 'duplex nickel' plating which is a combination of bright and dull plating, sounds good and looks great in the picture but is around twice the price of bright zinc plating. A...

Curtis, I know it has been sometime since your posting but I have only just been in a position to add to your query. I have a series 1 4.2 and it had a steel header tank which had become porous in a number of places. I decided to obtain a brass replacement to prevent further corrosion problems. Here...

I have a 4.2 65/66 series 1 and am in the process of adjusting the tappets. My car has 2 hole camshafts for both inlet and exhaust, but the exhaust has a groove in the outer edge of the front flange. Does this mean I have an early cam on the inlet and a later one on the exhaust and if so should I ad...

Thanks for the replies. Dave, I think you are right about the replacement racks. I believe the one on my car is a replacement, which is why it doesn't have the contact assembly. SNG Barratt have confirmed their's do not come with them and they are not available serparately. It is quite a complex ass...

Wiper Parking Contact early 4.2 RHD

My car doesn't have the windscreen wiper parking contact and adjustment assembly. Does anyone know where I can get these parts from. Christopher, Thanks for the prompt reply. I have seen a hole where you describe on some cars just on the inside of the transmission tunnel next to the mounting for the upper/inner engine frame attachment point in line with the flywheel. On my car I don't have a hole in this position, but my car has ...

Routing for wiring harness on S1 4.2

Hi,
I am fitting a new dash wiring harness to my 66 4.2 RHD roadster. I would like to know how the branch of the loom which contains the wiper motor, rev counter and starter solonoid wires is routed through the bulkhead. Does anyone have any photographs of the correct setup.
Thanks,
David

Heuer,

Thanks for your comprehensive reply.
I had thought the rearward facing seal flaps on the B post looked a neater job so I'll go with this.

Cheers,
David

Door catches on SI roadster

I am refitting the doors on my S1 roadster car. I have removed the door seals and am adjusting the door catches. When the door is in the fully latched position I am still able to move the door in and out a small amount on the catch. Is this normal or are the locks worn? Presumablly the new seals wil...
