Thank you, the thread explains everything and I am now sure I have the wrong front shield.

Exhaust Heatshields
It is ages since I posted anything, the restoration of the Series 1 3.8 is taking a long time! Can anyone advise where the front exhaust heatshield is located to make it fit? I am having real problems making it fit, is the issue that Barratts have sent me C25101 but I should have BD20436 given the c...

Re: Polished finish on carburettors and cam covers
Thank you, they certainly look shiny as do all the pictures of carburettors in the various restoration books. I will go for the Jaguar polished look as a finish.

Polished finish on carburettors and cam covers
After a three year interval the restoration of my Series 1 roadster is starting to show some real progress. I have sent off the carburettors and manifold for restoration and have been asked what finish I want on them. I am used to the rather dull finish on the dashpots and cam covers of my Mark 1 Ja...

David Good advice, I was going to keep the original plate just to make sure no one can accuse me of building a false car. I have the JDHT certificate setting out the original information on the car to put any future purchaser's mind at rest. Mind you, I am not setting out with the intention of selli...

Stamping the builder's plate
The black paint on the builder?s plate has come off due to brake fluid leaking on to it. Can it be re-sprayed or is it better to buy a new plate? If the latter do you know anyone with stamps who can do the job?

Engine Block
The engine block on my 3.8 OTS has developed a crack. Should I have it repaired and if so by whom? If not, what advice can you give me about finding a replacement?

Aluminium Dashboards
I have to agree with andrewh as the bucket seats and aluminium dashboard are the main reason for me looking for an early 3.8 roadster. The 3.8 is just such a pure car.
I hope to have good news to post very soon about the new stablemate to my Mark 1.

Aluminium Finisher Panel
Everyone has been very helpful with their replies. I am a bit unsure whether I have responded to each person, if not my apologies. I am not the world's best with technology!
I will follow up all the suggestions made.
Thank you

Aluminium Finisher Panel
I am a long time Jaguar fan running a 1959 3.4 (Mark 1 saloon) I have just joined as a new member as I am actively looking for a Series 1 3.8 roadster to add to my Mark 1. How big a job and how costly is it to replace the leather dashboard panel and centre console with aluminium? One car I have look...
