Did you checked on XKE Data ?
Just by comparing serial numbers close to your own, you should find a date.

I have seen early 64 with full alloy ( dash,console ) and some with the cubby box ( like late 64 ) trimmed same colour than the seats on alloy console .

It seems that the records and reality can be quite appart.
Not the first time , though .

I use Penrite Hpr 40 - 25w70 because of the heat here in AUS, but after talking with the state rep, I will change to Penrite Classic light 20w60 for the added zinc.
Not as easy to find than the HPR.

Glisten pc clear coat looks about right, good for polished brass,alloy wheels..ect...

This remind me of an Alfa Romeo GTA 4 cyl with dual spark plugs, after seeing the monstruous dome of the pistons, you clearly understand the need for two S/plugs... or more !!

Steve is right about it, Jaguar did this kind of exercise as well as Samir Klat in a way to improve an " average" combustion due to hight dome piston.
In USA some tuners are doing the same these days for motor with a C/R of 10/1 or more.

By chance, do you have any picture of your problems, as my S1 is fitted with the Coolkat fan as well.
And I do not really understand how this happened to you. So you got me worried !!
Are you running the fan really close to the radiator ?

Maybe I should talk to SNG since I bought the shocks from them.
And by looking at quite a few other professional or not E-type restorations on the web, the problem seems to be wide spread, whatever the brand of shocks .
