Re: Member Banned from forum

he had been warned befor and also previously banned from the US Jag Lovers forum......Steve Some people (fortunately only a very few) just don't get it. My experience as a mod on JL is that the vast majority don't take issue with dropping them a PM and asking that they tone it down, or redact an in...

If that hole is already oversize my choice of repair would be to apply a layer of braze 360 degrees insode the hole then redrill and tap it to the original size.
Silicon Bronze MIG wire works well for this too. You do need to preheat and cool slowly.

Re: stub axle nut tool?

Cobble something up which allows you to get a large adjustable/pipe wrench close to the flats on the nut. https://i.postimg.cc/5tRfvkLX/P1070054.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/sfS3QmX2/P1070055.jpg The section of hex bar isn't for applying torque - it just happened to be about the right size for the space...

Re: Ultrasonic cleaner

All the photos show for me. The links cactusman put up are to Amazon product pages and auto embed into the post. Try going to the bottom of the page and clicking on 'Delete all Board Cookies', exit browser and try again. It just dawned on me. The reason they weren't showing for me was that I run an...

Re: Trouble shooting 123 dizzy

My 123 wasn’t good to 20v. At about 15v, it causes the ignition to cut out, thought it doesn’t seem to have caused any permanent damage. I had a faulty relay in the alternator circuit, this caused the regulator to see a lower voltage than the alternator was putting out, and concequently the car got...

Re: Trouble shooting 123 dizzy

The simple test is put your voltmeter between "+" and earth and measure the battery voltage with the engine turned off. Then start the car and read what the voltage is with the voltmeter connected exactly as before. You should see about 12.5V with the engine off, and something between 13.6 and 14.7(...

Re: Trouble shooting 123 dizzy

You can put a voltmeter on it to see if it's putting out too many Volts, but that won't tell you if it's noisy. To see the noise you'd need a scope.

Re: Borescopes & Happy Christmas to you all

I have a couple of USB cabled ones (one with a 6m cable, the other 2m). I recently tried one which comes with a rechargeable WiFi transmitter, and you use an app for the phone to display the image. I like the idea, but the app isn't very good, and I'd rather be able to display it on a (larger) lapto...

Re: 4.2 ameter oscillation

Check the brushes. If they're stuck, or worn enough that they aren't making contact consistently then you'll get a jumping needle.

The easiest way to find them is to order, or fabricate new ones. 10 minutes after the repacements are fitted your originals will magically appear.

If the wires in the glass form a "T" made of two inverted "L"s, and there is no connection between them, then it's probably an antenna.

Re: Bent rear hub/axle

Sometimes the splines are tighter in one orientation, but fine in another, especially when fitting new hubs. If the hubs had Loctite and you haven't got all of it out then that can also make fitting a bother. The last few sets of hubs I fitted arrived as if the machinist had just blown the coolant o...

Re: Series one Independent rear suspension (IRS) overhaul?

I have four pots on the front. I have read that it is an upgrade to put my now redundant front piston/cylinder assemblies on the rear. If this is in fact a possible and my fronts are usable it would be a good idea as I could make a start on these now before taking the car off the road. If you've go...

The alternator is also pretty close to the exhaust headers. Do you have a heatshield installed?
