Re: Christopher Storey
Oh how sad, sending condolences to his family. I never got the chance to meet him but was often engaged in a lot of lively discussion, and I learned a lot from him.

Re: Goodwood's 75th.
My mate and I were meant to be at Goodwood yesterday and we felt a mixture of emotions about the whole affair really. Having driven down from Derbyshire to stay with him in Southampton on Friday for everything to be cancelled last minute was quite frustrating. That was possibly one of the worst car ...

Re: First Post
Hi Mark Welcome to the Forum! My family home is in the Chesterfield area (and I only live down on the other side of Derby) and there's usually plenty of things E-type related going on. My friend Richard Eaton and I run the lcoal section of the E-type Club (Derbyshire/Cheshire), and we have stuff alr...

Re: New member
Hi John, My friend Richard fitted the EZ power steering kit to the 4.2 S1 he sold a few years ago, I could find out if there were any issues with it/tips for such a conversion. Never heard of anyone using Corsa bits before now. If you're after technical advice, +woudl also recommend you speaking wit...

Re: New member
Hi John, Welcome to to the forum, sounds like you have a lovely FHC! Are you based local to Donington? I am South Derbyshire based, my friend Richard Eaton runs a lot of the Derbyshire-based E-Type Club events (you don't need to be a member to attend) and of course we do a lot with Jonathan and Anne...

Re: PhDone
Hi Simon, Yet another very tardy 'well done'. I do know what it is like and the work and dedication that goes into achieving a PhD - I got mine way back in 1971!! (in Pharmacology). Then went on to spend ~ 30yrs in the pharmaceutical industry in the same company in various roles, watching the compa...
Re: PhDone
Simon, late but sincere congratulations on earning your PhD! We met shortly in 2016, in Bicester. I recall you being in to chemistry. Great achievement now! Working in pharmaceutical chemistry should allow for for a nice E-Type, sooner or later. All the best for your career! My middle son is workin...
Re: PhDone
Thank you :) It has been a lot of effort and sacrifices along the way, my PhD supervisor was great and I didn't have to spend every waking moment in the lab, but there were quite a few long days!
Re: PhDone
Thank you everyone for all your kind words, a marathon effort indeed. There were plenty of challenging moments throughout (especially during the winter COVID lockdown early 2021, that was rough) but I got on with it, got plenty done (and good science at that) which meant I didn't need/want/apply for...

For everyone asking me in person at events about how my PhD is going...(and wondering why I've been a tad quiet recently) Done! Passed my PhD viva yesterday (with minor corrections), actually quite enjoyed the process in the end. Despite the 3 hours or so of questions/discussions, it's a great oppor...

Re: Local show
I always enjoy the local shows around Derbyshire too, Chris. Often a lot more casual and relaxed, and of course they're not always as big a commitment. That being said, I would like to go to the Revival one year, it always looks fabulous. Had our fair share of flypasts this year, seeing the Lancaste...

Swimwear aside, that's pretty cool. Richard has his 3.8 FHC in a photoshoot with a drone-mounted camera a while back and the photos were excellent!

Re: Age demographic
Whilst not all of the younger generation hanker after classic cars, there are plenty of people interested in them. Don't forget the more social media-savvy generations have access to more classic car content than perhaps others. You could argue that we aspire to own cars that relate to our own exper...
Re: Hello
Hi Paul, lovely car with a great family connection! Welcome along to the forum - although the E-type Club and Forum are separate entities, we regularly advertise Club events in the Derbyshire/Cheshire region which my mate and I run. We are aiming to have at least one run a year up in the Cheshire re...

Re: Black flag, or half mast?
I was just a little too young to properly remember his commentary unfortunately. After watching a few races when I was tiny, I distinctly remember following the 2003 F1 season, but that was 2 years after he retired. Certainly remember his voice from every historic race, and all the charms and turns ...

Re: 1:8th e type model
I would love to have a go at one, I particularly fancy a crack at the wheels (am I mad?) which I'm sure would look terrific on my own 1:8 creations too  https://i.imgur.com/dCYNZbc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lsVOPQR.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tm3VrZz.jpg I simply cannot justify spending 850 quid on ...

Re: Mechanic Recommendation near Cheshire, Manchester, Lancs?
Can't help you with Cheshire/Manc, I'm afraid, but another Derbyshire contact to add to your list would be Paul Brown, in Ripley nr Derby. Huge amount of experience with all series of E-Types (there are members on here who have had Series 3s restored by him) and always happy to help or answer questi...

Christmas lights
Aside from driving every other household occupant mad, is there another reason why the "smashing" Christmas lights have not appeared at the top of the homepage this year? (at least for me anyway)
