What is a good price for a complete engine rebuild

Hi Everyone, After 30 years of good service (engine was rebuilt in the 90s) I have issues with head, lost compressions, leak everywhere ... So I am going to get the engine rebuilt The fist price proposed is around 15k Euros for full rebuilt with mostly new parts. Just checking if the figure is align...

Re: Cylinder 6-5-4 not working

Thanks Guy !

My bad, I forgot to say I have 3 Carbs which made me discard carbs issues.

Looking at Marek answer:

Are the spark plugs on the non working cylinders wet with unburnt fuel? -- Yes it’s exactly that.

I will try your tricks and let you know

Hi All, This is an email to see if someone had the same trouble as me or can share some light. I have a 69 Serie2 6cyl and when I've started it this weekend the engine was not able to stabilize The car is actually running on only 3 cylinders (1-2-3) that get hot after few minutes where 4-5-6 stay co...

Re: Changing valve guide oil seals

Thanks to all,

All the answers make perfect sense actually and it seems that keeping the head on as I was hoping for is eventually not the best idea.

I will have to investigate to find out what I do have on this car.

That's something more on my list for this winter -)

Re: Changing valve guide oil seals

Thanks bill, This is what I call a detailed answer ! Thank you very much. Christopher's answer confused me a bit -) : so I've went to the SNG web site and it seems right ie I cannot order seals when I select 2+2 S2 and I go to valve assembly ? IF there's no seal to accuse, how can I solve my problem...

Changing valve guide oil seals

Hi fellow E Type owner, My car is creating a huge cloud of smoke after going downhill without accelerating and my reading seems to all come to the same conclusion : I need to change my valve guide oil seals. I have a question if I may: Can I actually do this while letting the head on the block ?? Or...

Re: Hot coolant going out from the radiator

Thanks to all, I will try to answer to everyone at once -) 1- The water is going out of the radiator CAP. The cap has no spring and I "doubled" the rubber on this cap just to be sure that is closes well and fair but still the water gets out from the cap 2- The fans are working so I concluded that th...

Hot coolant going out from the radiator

Hi all, I have a problem of coolant going off the radiator cap for a little while now It happens when the car is at running temperature. (4.2 2+2 1969) There is no overheating (at least the gauge stays were it should) and the fans work as well so even with the 35 degrees we had in Paris lately the c...
