Thanks for the feedback everybody.
I do indeed have wire wheels, so this weekend I will take all the advice and go through every point and see what I find. And yes, looking forward to those drawings!
Again, thanks!

Steering wheel vibrations at 70 mph
Hello, I need some help before ordering some parts to solve some strong vibrations in the steering wheel when approaching 70 mph. Some websearch turned up possibile causes, so I started with the most obvious ones, and took the front wheels to a tyre shop to have them balanced. 1 out f the 2 was fine...

Re: Registration in Italy rejected - EEC-homologation - help wanted
Just for reference, when, last Thursday, I brought my car to be checked, there was also a 70's Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, in wonderful restored condition. The owner told me that in order to pass the technical control, he had to install 2 rear light clusters (so 2 remained original), which in stead...

Re: Registration in Italy rejected - EEC-homologation - help wanted
Jan, the biggest Jaguar club in the UK is the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club https://jec.org.uk/ You might find it worth contacting them to find if they have answers to your questions or know who to talk to. The cost of joining the club is easily outweighed by the savings you get at SNG Barratt as a club ...

Re: Registration in Italy rejected - EEC-homologation - help wanted
1/ I'd guess the Swiss and Germans will also join you and howl in complaint as I have seen new replacement Lucas s2/s3 front lenses supplied in Lucas boxes without the E11 markings. Any time I get enquiries from German or Swiss drivers, I always make sure they are supplied e11 marked lenses. kind r...

Registration in Italy rejected - EEC-homologation - help wanted
I brought my 1966 2+2 Jaguar to the "registration MOT" last Thursday, so that I could finally register it here in Italy. Unfortunately, my car was rejected, for the following reasons. 1. the plastic lenses on the front indicators and rear stop/tail/flasher, do not have a European homologation E11 ma...

chain adjustment - tool or no tool...
that's not really the question. My engine has the rattling noise at start up idling rpm, which goes away at higher rpm. From information on this forum, I seems like I need to adjust the chain. Browsing the forum, it looks like a good idea to buy the tool (SBS1265) to make the job easier. However, ha...

Re: Oil cooler XJ6 on E type
Worked fine. I drive the car regularly up and down the local private road and leave it idling so as to warm up all fluids. No problems. No leaks.
Can send some pictures when I come back from holiday.

Headliner supplier
Hello, Need to replace the headliner on my series 1, 2+2. SNG Barratt doesn't supply this so I did the classic google search, which yielded quite a lot of results. Since some suppliers are using the same picture to advertise their product but the price, pending on location can be quite different, I ...

4.2 knocking noise
Starting doing some test runs. The 4.2 engine runs and accelerates very smoothly (originally from a 84 XJ6)with a Mangoletsi injection system. Unfortunately I have this knocking noise coming from the front of the engine, which is rather annoying. Oil pressure is +/- 20 psi at hot idle. I have made a...

Ammeter - Not charging?
I have managed to solve my transmission issues and so could drive it for the first time on the road (just a couple of hundred meters, since not yet registered) Got back into the garage and noticed that the ammeter was on "C" https://i.postimg.cc/ZK55f4m7/ammeter-0.jpg Turned the engine off. => I run...

Re: Problems fitting courtesy light switches
Had the same problem on my 2+2 door hinges. Last year, ordered both sides, the right hand side arrived with the "incorporated bolt" and all was fine. Door shuts beautifully. The left side was a version with the hole. Got feedback from SNG that they no longer will supply the one with the bolt. Had to...

Looked on the OSMO UK website, but I can't figure out which one to buy. Could you indicate the specific oil you ordered and, if applicable, in which colour?

Electrical - interior light - fan
As mentioned in another post, I flushed the oil on my automatic gearbox today (with still some problems left) and found out that there are some electrical issues. :banghead: In the past all of the following worked : Fan, horn, gauge lights and interior light. Checked fuses and connections and all we...

Re: Automatic gearbox sludge
Ok, update. Flushed the oil by detaching the hose going to the radiator. Used 14 litres of oil, could have done with less, but continued until very clean oil came out again. Have the car on car stands so shifted throught the gears as recommended. Checked fluid level when engine was hot, and all seem...

Automatic gearbox sludge
I installed the engine and automatic gearbox from an XJ6 S3. Drove the car a first time for 20 metres (in and out of the garage) before changing the gearbox oil. No problem. Changed the gearbox oil and filter (cleaning the sump, removed oil was a bit dark, no sludge) and when I tried to drive the ca...
