Re: Play in steering wheel

Ok I think I’ve found the problem, there is play in the column where the column is designed to collapse into its self.

Re: Play in steering wheel

Steve, that was the conclusion I had come to, but I thought I'd ask just in case I had missed something.

Re: Play in steering wheel

The steering wheel rotates left and right about half an inch. I cant detect any up down movement. It feels very similar the a wheel out of balance. I can hold the UJ and move the wheel back and forward and the UJ doesn't move, so the problem is within the upper column.

Re: Play in steering wheel

Jerry, Thank you for the suggestion, but the rack mounts are new. I think the problem lays in the upper column because when I rock the steering wheel the movement doesn't show at the UJ end,

Play in steering wheel

Hello, I wonder if you can help? If I hold the UJ and rock the steering wheel I have about half an inch play in the steering wheel. I have checked for play in the top UJ and found none. I have checked for play in the steering wheel hub and found none.
Any suggestions what could be wrong?

TIA.

Re: Daytime lights in Europe

I used a DRL controller module and LED sidelight bulbs. The module was under £10 and very easy to wire in. The LEDs are bright enough and the module power them when the engine starts and stops after 10 second after the the engine stops.

Water pump gasket sealer?

Long story short... My water pump failed while on tour in Spain. What is the recommended gasket sealer these days? Is Hylomar Blue still the recommended solution or is there something better?

Thanks in advance.

I have also just taken delivery of a set, and as you say, well packaged and more importantly, the tools itself are fantastic quality items.

Re: Clutch slave cylinder- delay in retracting

Hello,
I have had this very problem, I even changed the clutch, no fix. The problem turned out to be the rubber hose which connects the slave to the hard pipe from the master cylinder. The rubber hose swells and reduces the return flow.

Looking for a wheel builder.

Hello, I've been cleaning the wire wheels on my S2 and found a couple of wheels need a few spokes replacing. Does anyone know of a wheel builder in the Cheshire area would be ideal.

Thanks,
Dave

Fuse ratings?

Hello, I've checked the tech library but couldn't find the info telling me what the fuse ratings are for each of the fuses in the fuse box. Anyone know the ratings 1 - 8 fuses?

Thanks.

Air conditioning service?

Hello, I have a/c fitted in my S2 FHC and I would like to have it checked over to see if it is viable to get it working or just remove the system. Anyone know a technician based near J17 M6 Cheshire who I can contact?

TIA.
