Sun visors

I'm looking for a pair of sun visors for my S1 2+2 if anyone can help. Both mine appear to have been lost during dismantling and as far as I can see they are not available new, although I believe the actual covers may be.

Rear Number Plate Chrome Strip

I'm slowly rebuilding my S1 2+2 which came in many parts. I'm confused with the chrome strip which surrounds the recess in which the rear number plate is housed. On cars I have seen this strip seems to be a tight push fit onto a narrow flange which protrudes for this purpose. But on my car there is ...

Hi Chris. On the drivers door the top (convex) measurement is 760.mm and the bottom (concave) it is also 760.mm. On the drivers door the convex is 800.mm and the concave 760.mm. All very strange. I also note that there looks as if there is a captive square nut on the reverse side at either end. But ...

That's great. Thanks for the effort. I notice that on Google Images there are photographs of cars without the chrome strip. After seeing the pictures you posted I suspect that it is the coupe which doesn't have the strip.

For personal reasons I am considering selling my S! 2+2 project which is nearing completion. It has had a ground up restoration and the main work still required for completion is re-fitting the interior, all of which is either new or refurbished already. Give me a call if you would like to talk. 075...

S1 2+2 Door chrome strip

I'm slowly assembling my S1 2+2 bought as part restored. I have two chrome strips which seem to fit on the doors just below the windows, plus two smaller pieces which continue the strip for about six inches below the rear windows. Unfortunately someone appears to have cut a fraction of an inch off t...

Automatic gear box selector decal

I need a new automatic gearbox selector decal for my S1 2+2. They seem to be available for the S3 2+2 but it does not specify it for the S1, part number BD38409. Does anyone know whether this will fit my S1.

He now seems to be having second thoughts about the No.3. He thinks it may have been No.8. I've checked the data base and No.8 was delivered to SA so it is probably the one.He did confirm that shortly after he exchanged it there was an advertisement in the press from someone over from UK wanting to ...

Windscreen angle for 2+2

Having a light hearted argument with friends who say the windscreen angle was made more upright for the 2+2 when it was first introduced. I know the angle was made more rakish by changing from 46.5 to 53.5 degrees for the S2 2+2 but is anyone able to clarify whether the S1 angle was different for th...

Early e-type

Just had another chat with him and he is sure it was No.3. It was RHD and he describes the switch which disconnected the electrics as being in the far left near where the grab handle was. There are quite a few e-types in SA and most are RHD. Is it not possible it was shipped back to the UK in recent...

Very, very early Series 1

Just had a chat with an old friend who bought his first etype back in the early eighties. He tells me it was an early S1 coupe, the third off the production line. It was the flat floor, which confirms it's age to some extent, but the interesting fact he parted with was that it had a switch built in ...

Help - Trim Clips for door window seal

I'm in the process of replacing the inner window seal on the doors of my S1 2+2. They are the felt like inner seals which press against the door windows as they move up and down. I have tried all the usual places but no luck. The clips are like a double 'U' shape. They clip the chrome strip to the e...

South West Location

Anyone located in the Somerset area within striking distance of Cheddar. I would dearly love to get some photographs of the interior of a S1 2+2 to help with refitting the interior to my car. At the moment it is as I bought it with just a bare inside after its bare metal respray. I have a pile of bi...

Excited new owner

Chasis No. is 50306.BW That makes it number 306 off the production line for the new 2+2's. It seems there were only about 975 RHD models made before the S1.5 upgrade. First registered on 28/08/1966. We were married two weeks later so pretty close for us too.I'm wondering if there is anyone with a S1...

Well, it arrived. Spent the last 48 hrs looking it over and inspecting all the loose bits, of which there are plenty. But generally it is what I hoped it would be. Small amount of work on the mechanics (fit petrol tank and wire up etc.,connect new brakes and replace a couple of rubber mounts on the ...

Thanks David. That seems to clear that up. They are off the car at the moment and he has painted them red. I guess silver is the correct finish but I kind of like them red anyway so may stick with that..... or maybe not!!!!!

Has anyone ever retro-fitted power steering to a 1966 S1 2+2. I understand it was available as an option on later models.

The car is due to be delivered on Thursday so not yet had much time to play with it. One thing I have noticed is that the previous owner, as part of the body rebuild, decided to spray the headlamp recesses in red (the colour of the car). According to him they should be sprayed silver but he preferre...
