Re: Two smells inside the car: GASOLINE and EXHAUST. Is it regular?
Regarding Gasoline, I had a fuel pressure regulator fitted by restorer, in the boot, that caused my issue. I replaced it with an under bonnet period type and all fuel lines at the same time. Solved! During the process I purchased a hand held gas detector that worked great. Here's a link that was sim...

Re: Header tank overflow hose routing
Simon,
In the Series 1 Factory Fit 4.2 section, there are three pictures I’ve seen, all slightly different placed on original cars. All seem loosely fitted.

I had same issue with slight nose up causing bonnet to close. Changed out all 4 springs and it stays up nicely now.

Re: Inside Lights
I have coloured LED bulbs that work well, they dim also. Legend strips can be a bit hit or miss as the light doesn’t travel well along Perspex.

Re: Where did the fuse go
Check the bottom, or furthest edge, of the hinge instrument panel. Modern glass fuses can be slightly longer so I slide them along slightly, by squeezing with fingers, then lever out at one end before pulling clear. It helps if youve got piano fingers
Good luck.

Re: Series 1 clutch/brake reservoirs and missing hoses
Hi Simon,
Mine is ID 22.5mm and length 56.5mm. It looks to be 5mm thick wall so approx 27.5mm OD.

Re: Series 1 clutch/brake reservoirs and missing hoses
Hi, Don't know your name please add a signature block. Your observations are correct, the bottle with sensor should be on the brakes and there is a short rubber hose and jubilee clips required to connect the breather to air filter assembly. Of note, your bottles should be the other way around, the c...

Go for aluminium, in black powder coat you won't tell the difference.

Re: A question on Series 2 seats?
If you get the MX5 seats re-trimmed as per the S1 pattern they look great, are comfortable and fully adjustable as per your requirements. The head rests look in keeping too, the way they should have been originally! I also used the Fosseway brackets, ££ but little option unless you fabricate your ow...

I’ve also got Radtec radiator, fan (incl shroud) & header in aluminium on my S1 4.2. Run in hot driving conditions and works faultlessly.

Re: missmatched clutch arm ?
Hi Bryan, Once you've solved your clutch/plate/fork issue, you may also want to check your slave cylinder whilst you're at it. It looks like you have the longer Hydrostatic self adjusting version that doesn't require the spring, (thats only for the shorter cylinders which your S1 car may well fall u...

Re: What is this part?
It looks like the bulkhead throttle linkage mounting with an adapted brass centre (normally rubber grommet).
