Re: HOPEFULLY TUESDAY WILL BE THE END OF THE ELECTRIC CAR.....

The concept of supply and demand is fairly straightforward. As demand increases (or supply decreases) the price should go up. As demand decreases (or supply increases) the price should go down. Not quite. The price of oil is actually set in the oil futures market. An oil futures contract is a bindin...

Re: S1 Original brake performance

:yeahthat: Looking in the service manual there are 2 ways to connect the servo; for “early “ S1 4.2 cars the rears connect to the first circuit connection with “later” cars connecting first the front circuit. I have currently the early setup, but have had advice to switch to the later setup as per t...

Re: ground strap locations? 1969 series 1.5

I doubled my bell-housing straps, one on each side, as I had a starter slow crank issue many years ago with the original single earth strap. No issues since and piece of mind when on the road.

Thanks Jeremy, a nice little project all in all and controls all within easy reach. Next is the headlamp relay upgrade, that’ll complete the final ‘mod’ for me.

Re: Rare S1 wiper delay/hazard/fan override module

Hi Geoff, Thanks for your kinds words, I was after that ‘original’ look and glad that it works. I’ve enjoyed putting it together but sourcing the correct looking parts hasn’t exactly been time or cost effective. The chrome push/pull screw on knobs, for example, were sourced separately due to wanting...

Re: Rare S1 wiper delay/hazard/fan override module

Jeremy, as promised here’s a few pics of my installation. Started with an original Lucas 5 switch panel, shaped to suit the S1dash lines and bolstered it up at the rear with some thin ply before covering in vinyl and adding switches. I used Lucas HRW switches and matching warning lamps as well as Re...

Re: Hayden Electric Fan Switch IMHO

The otter switch is normally sat at the top of the header tank Mines at the front and low down so always in water. I never realised the blank plate was there until I investigated doing away with Kenlowe thermostat globe in the top hose that always leaked. Suitably replaced with Fosseway otter switch.

Re: 1969 vacuum check valve question

Make sure you put the two pipes on the right way around. It’s the difference between a heavy brake pedal (no assist) and good pedal with servo assist. Mine was plumbed wrong for many years before I investigated further and wow what a difference.

Re: Delayed Oil Pressure On Startup

I have a separate light to my gauge and when starting with 3/4 choke the light extinguishes pretty quickly and approx. 1-1.5 seconds after it fires.
