Hi Steve,
Convinced the mounts (which seem to be on a round base plate?) are slightly oversized.
Anyway, have them fitting better. Everything is certainly secure.
Thanks Bob. I think that original pic is rather deceptive. There have been knocks or issues at the rear, I was fitting new rear shocks/ springs and thought the bush just looked to be sitting off the mount quite a bit. Having removed them from the mounts now, and cleaned/ lubed them and refitted I’m ...
Yes, same issue both sides Steve. When I removed the bush I cleaned and inspected the mount. Definitely no old cup present I think what was visible in my photo was a build up of grease/ dirt. Have applied anti seize and tightened everything up again. Went to 35 lbft and it is certainly fitting a bit...
Got to it straight away! Have removed the bush from the mount. There is nothing present from the deterioration of a previous bush/cup. Inside the bush cup I can fell a raised centre that protrudes into the cup (bolt passes through this to screw into mount). With everything tightened I would imagine ...
Thanks Steve.
Going to get the car back up in the air and take a proper look.
I know the bushes were replaced prior to me purchasing the car from CMC a few years ago. Would be surprised if they would have left the old cup in situ but does sound plausible.
Thanks everyone.
I did see a figure of 46 lbft mentioned on another forum but wanted confirmation.
Will run with around 30 as suggested.
Can I also ask - I seem to have quite a gap between the arm/ face of the bushing and the floor (15-20mm) is that normal?
Trying to confirm if there is a torque figure for the radius arm bolt (front bolt that secures the large end to the underside of the floor). Thanks
Paul
I recently purchased a set of rear Gaz Adjustable shocks and the recommended Gas springs from SNG. I asked for advice regards how to set them initially. Was told to have the spring platform raised to 100mm from the bottom of the shock and to turn the rebound adjuster 4 or 5 clicks. This should give ...
Decided to use some teal off cuts to fashion this pad for under the centre of the diff. Slips under the exhaust bracket to extend the end of the IRS. Works a treat and matches the teak piece used for the front rail 😀 https://i.postimg.cc/rpNfprRG/7-DE3-C6-C6-7286-4664-B721-925-E2-EBEA517.jpg https:/...
Good idea Dave, I like it.
Would have the load spread for sure.
Will search through my pile of ‘useful’ off cuts and see if I can’t fashion something along the same lines.
Quick query - I have the obligatory 18 inch piece of fence post that I use when jacking up under the diff/ IRS. Because of a support bracket joining the two exhaust pipes my piece of wood does not fully sit across the IRS from front to back it’s about 3-4 inches from the far side. Will the base plat...
On my car the fat one won’t fit. The thin one seals just fine.
Thanks. That's what I've found previously as well.
Getting ready to crawl under and unleash the black stuff (think at best, I've only ever managed to capture about 85% of the oil, rest ends up on me, the floor ……... ).
Would anyone happen to know the dimensions of the oil filter head/ filter canister sealing ring? The OEM filter kits that SNG supply come with two sealing rings and I just want to make sure I'm using the correct one! Both rings have the same circumference and same thickness, but one is slightly wide...
