Looking for a good shop to fix a ‘70ies radio in the US

I am looking for a friend of mine who is in NY. He has an older radio (it’s not even a car radio), but is very attached to it as it was his late father’s.

Would anyone be able to recommend someone reilable in the US?

Re: Bonnet Balance Link Assembly

Hi,

Try RM & J Smith Ltd - he had them in 2018 :-)

One other thing - anyone know where you can get the wiring support clip that attaches to the Balance Link as in the above picture? I can't seem to find anyone who lists it - C.18410 I believe.

Re: Best coat for rear suspension

Cataphoteric paint. Perfect, thin coat, you do not have to cover any splines, threads as it's a very thin layer of paint. Looks very good.

The 3rd photo is from a '62 flat floor, as you can see, it's the same arrangement as on my '63 car.

It's relatively original, beside obvious additions.

Re: SU Carburettor restoration

I received an e-mail from Judith Lonsdale the other day, confirming that David passed away in July '23. She wrote me that David had a business associate, George Todd, who very kindly dealt with his workshop and any remaining business outstanding. I contacted George, he agreed to post his mail addres...

Re: Center console assembly tips

Once you assemble it with the radio panel, make sure the central instrument console tilts freely so that you can reach the fuses.

Re: SU Carburettor restoration

He did my Frogeye ones in '22. We also did a project together on S1 automatic linkage under the carbs, as I had a good sample.

I wonder if anyone took over David's workshop.

Re: SU Carburettor restoration

Many thanks for all the hints, I will pass them on.

I need a good lead, as it's for an 1950 XK120 OTS for a fellow here in Poland, who has the car and is restoring it..

Re: SU Carburettor restoration

Oh, that is terrible news - he was not only a perfectionist, he was also such a good and kind man! I visited him once, he showed me around the workshop, he lived in a beautiful place, an old church rectory.. Tadek Sadly David Lonsdale has actually passed away. A lovely man and a wonderful restorer o...

SU Carburettor restoration

I was wondering if anyone can recommend SU carburetor restoration services, in the UK.

Unfortunately it seems that David Lonsdale has definitely retired.
