Geoff
Everything on the Forum seems to be about restorations with the windscreen out. I am interested to find out about removing the old foam from the roof of a car that is fully trimmed with all windows and doors fitted., and then fitting the new lining.
Thanks
Roger

Headlining renewal
Can anyone share their experience of renewing the headlining in a Series 2 FHC (not 2+2) in a road running car. It was last replaced incorrectly in 1996 and is now drooping badly in several places. The curtain cloths have also been fitted incorrectly and need replacing. OR does anyone know of a comp...

That's what I said.
It was a great run around Wiltshire on the Rotary Club Classic Car Run organised by the Chippenham Rotary Club raising money for the Bobby Van Trust and local charities.
12 E Types amongst the 97 entrants.

Re: thicker Moto-Lita steering wheel
I agree with JJC. The wood rim wheel is not comfortable on long journeys. I have replaced mine with a leather covered 15inch from Mota Lita. It is very comfortable and matches the rest of the interior to give a really pleasant interior view.

Re: Oil Filter Head guidance
The pictures in the original post are the same as on my Series 2 4.2 litre engine. My head has a clamping plate pleaned to it that supports the filter element against the spring. There is no relief valve in my head and I was led to believe that engines after 7R2298/7R35583 don't require one. The can...

Re: Does the paper oil filter actually work?
Hi John,
I have just refitted mine having changed the pressure relief valve. Wish I had taken a photo!
My engine is 7R53059 and there is a disc that is peaned onto the central sleeve. The seal on the end of the filter seats onto this.

Re: What colour code for BRG
Thanks for info. Car was repainted in 1997/8. Colour unknown but it isn't Brooklands nor Connaught Green. Took the filler cap to a paint supplier but they were unable to scan it as it was too curved. Took the car in today and the computer said "no colour match"! I have ordered a small touch up for B...

Re: Torque setting for rear brake disc locknuts?
Hi Dave,
There is a list of torque wrench settings in the Knowledge Base Technical Information Series 3 Service Manual General Information.
I guess they are the same as the prop shaft nuts?

Re: Flags
Regardless of the history I would like to fly an England flag and I suspect that there are many scots who would like to fly the Saltire.
I wonder if my membership of the Manx Motor Racing Club allows me to fly the flag of the Isle of man? Maybe I should go for Wales as
my youngest daughter is Welsh!!

Torque Settings
Every time I carry out any work on my E Type I have to refer to my Triumph TR6 Workshop Manual to find what torque setting I should use to tighten the fixing. For example front Caliper attachment 7/16 UNF 65 lbf.ft. This manual contains a torque setting for every fixing on the car. Is there a simila...

Hi Henke If the mirror you refer to is a Tex type, they were standard fitment on many Leyland Cars of the period including Minis and Triumphs. I bought mine from Somerford Mini Ltd, stock code GAM215A for about ?20, but I already had the door fitting. Contact +44(0)1249721421 Look on the website www...
