Phil, welcome to the best place for all things E Type. Just a note, we are not part of any club, but effectively a very friendly online club of helpful and very knowledgeable people. We have a resident professional restorer, Angus Moss who might be able to help source a car: https://www.mossjaguar.c...

Re: Door cards

Steve, at the top of the door where it goes from level at the window to sloping down towards the hinge the door and forward door chrome has a bend. If Chris looks at his door chrome he will see that the forward one has a couple of kinks. Haven’t got a decent photo to hand will see what I can do. Che...

Re: Door cards

Remember the front of the door card is not straight at the top but has a bend in it. MDF doesn’t bend (unless wet  )

Re: New member UK

Terry, welcome to the best place for all things E Type. There are quite a few events this year celebrating 60 years, they should give you a good chance to see lots of different cars and see which you really like. Do you just want to buy a driver or are you happy to do some work? Maybe not a full res...

Re: S1.5 LHD steering columns

Barrie, it’s always useful to have photos. I have a full S2 column (August 69 UK car) that has the steering lock incorporated and a second that seems to be an interim (March 69 US car) S1.5-2 column that had the housing for the steering lock (no lock) but a bracket to take the ignition switch. Just ...

Re: Spinners not tightening.

Ok, silly question, could the ends of the hubs have a few mm shaved off? Allowing the refurbed spinners to be used but without compromising strength, safety, etc?

Prepared to be shot down in flames if deserved.

Re: S1 1965 seat base removal

Are there plastic covers over the hinges of the seat? Remove and then release tension on the spring before undoing the bolts/screws holding the hinge mechanisms to the seat base and back. You should see how the runners are attached to the seat base, so should be easy to approach that task. But bewar...

Re: Car lift single post

I’d quite like what could be called a double single post. Two posts against one wall so no post in the way in the middle of the garage. One at the front of the car one at the rear. Ok, it’ll mean no access to one side of the car whilst raised, but it’s for working underneath the car. Just my thought...

Re: Bonnet panel gap

Having now taken the wings panels off mine were lead loaded at the front joint, but doubt it was original as the spacer washers between the sections are only 1.6mm (or 1/16”) thick. Now getting very frustrated by the last couple of bolts holding the lower panel to the centre section :banghead: almos...

Find an old cushion or something similarly of little value. Honestly, why harm man’s best friend

Though I agree it’s a well worthwhile upgrade and like your bracket
