Re: IRS rebuild required, can anyone recommend a UK specialist in south of England?

Steve, you’re correct, but if he can get someone to take the irs out then Alan could be a very good solution for his problems.
Cheers

Does Alan Slawson offer a complete rebuild service? Might be worth contacting him, lots of references to him on here.

Re: Series 2 changes (in detail)

Jonathon, an interesting book to own is Clausager's Factory Original E Type. The long river company has them but linking to it wasn't working. Gives you lots of info about all models and details many of the small changes as they occur during production of each series as well as the major differences...

Ash, give up smoking and delete the thing!
I tried a plain, matt none wrinkle (or crinkle) black paint, it looks ok if not correct. Could a powder coating company do anything suitable, even if not wrinkle finish?

Re: Two ear wheel spinners?

Get yours tidied up, dressing out any dings and get them re-chromed if they are original and aren’t too messed about from hammer blows. A good chrome company will do all that for you. The cost will not be dissimilar to buying new, not guaranteed to fit, spinners.

The guy who served me, about my age So not that old then, Andrew? At least it wasn’t a millennial who would barely know a Jaguar older than the turn of this century. Even more surprising is that you could go to a Jaguar dealership and still buy parts for a 4.2. It’d be fun to try that in a U...

Re: Fuse ratings?

I’m surprised to hear the long river company sells correct, slow blow glass fuses. Here is one example of the explanation of which type to get, I hope it will help you ensure you have the correct ones.

Tony, my photos are quite large but are automatically sized for forums by imgur. Select a photo, then click on the option that copies for forums and then use that link in your post here on the forum. I know David has shown how to do it and a search for imgur under his name may well bring up his scre...

As an aside it’s fun to see someone in France having to become conversant with proper, imperial measurements

Re: What do I put in first …

Bart, as Steve suggests above look at the restoration section and get a feel for how others have done it. You may not wish to do all yourself, need help for some tasks, these and other considerations (e.g. your available time) will control the order in which some of it is done. Don’t rush it. Also, ...

Re: What do I put in first …

With fresh paint get it well protected with cellair foam or similar. Trying the fit of doors or anything else will be a great way of scratching that new paint.

BTW, add your name and car series and type to your signature area as it helps people know how to respond to questions.

Ruurd, a set of correct overhauled triple SUs for an E Type will cost over £3500 or maybe even more, if that helps you value items

Re: EZ STEERING GTJOEY ITS A NEW WORLD!

Frequently fatal for the moose I should think, oh deer! In Britain our deer aren't so large. Fallow deer 50 - 90 kg, red deer 90 - 190 kg, muntjac to 18 kg, roe deer up to 25 kg. All could be in the area Angus was driving. Here's hoping he found a small specimen and not too much damage. Geoff Talk a...
