Oil Pressure fluctuations

Some help please and sorry if this is a bit of a stupid question. My S1 has always shown strong oil pressure 50 at start up and 40 when warm and running. However now it’s all over the place fluctuating quite wildly from 40 down to less then 20 even with out throttle input. Once warm it hovers around...

Alternator or battery issue

The battery gauge swings from one side to the other with the engine running and I'm wondering if this indicates a problem with the alternator . Lately even after a short run the battery struggles to re-fire the engine. The battery is fairly new and I always have it on a conditioner. The kenlowe fan ...

Battery holding strap

I've been told that an unstrapped battery is an MOT fail and mine is definitely not fixed in any way. Am I right in thinking this was not an original fit ( I can't find any parts for it ) and if so any advise on what I need to do.
Thanks for any advise
Regards Gary.

Cam Covers ...help please

The cam covers on my 1966 FHC are not in great shape and have been bodged with some gunk around the nut apertures, they also weep oil. I've been offered some second hand replacements but apparently they have two variants. As I'm reluctant to take mine off would anyone be able to clarify what I have ...

Gearbox level test tool

I'm just in the process of replacing the carpets in my FHC and noticed a pouch inlaid on the passenger side carpet which John Skinner the carpet provider ( and great replacement carpets they are! ) tells me was part of the original spec. I suspect this is to house a tool to check gearbox oil level a...

Battery conditioner

I'm a new Series 1 owner and since from a previous thread I've discovered that if left for a while it can require quite an effort on the battery to fire up , I was wondering if other owners see a battery conditioner/ trickle charger as a piece of essential kit ...and if so any recommendations . than...
