David, found the body number plate in the LHS of the boot area. Unfortunately I misread your post and took close up numbers of the body plate not the number plate. Will rectify this and get some close ups of the number plate, although zooming in on my photo it does look flat with no lip.

Hi chaps, could anybody fully identify where I can find the body number stamped? I am aware that it is on the ID plate but I beleive it is also stamped on the body itself?

Alan, I did load the data and photos on XKE data last night but it's not showing yet. This was delivered on 6 November 1961 and has the flat floor pan. I am awaiting the Heritage Certificate to arive. I have the old original logbook which states the car was cream. I'll take your word on the radiator...

Well I guess it is quite exciting exposing something that has been hidden for many years and it is an interesting story.
I guess the owner of number 60 is not doing it for investment but for the enjoyment.
