Interesting article

Hi all, Hope you are all well. Many of you may have seen the op-ed piece in this month's Practical Classics by Nick Larkin on the work the Morgan Three Wheeler Club are doing to safeguard the future of these particular cars by offering them to younger enthusiasts through their club membership and Mo...

Re: E-Type major price correction expected?!

Sotto voce..... So that’s just me and Goran hoping to pick up a bargain when investor owners who are now considering liquidation opportunities in their portfolios dump their car collections into a suppressed market. I’m also thinking that reduced valuations will make my insurance premiums fall next...

Re: E-Type major price correction expected?!

I looked at that one too Phil and did put in a bid but at a sum way below the estimate based on the factors you described. I was reassured that it was matching numbers and the engine did turn...

However, it means I can keep my E-Type pot dry for a better project car for me to fettle.

Re: E-Type major price correction expected?!

I put in a bid on an E-Type project at the cancelled / sealed bids Bonhams MPH auction at Bicester yesterday and will be interested to see what it sells for against the current backdrop.

There were 3 going : '64 3.8 FHC, '67 2+2 and an OTS S3 from memory.

Re: KBO

As a teacher in enforced self-isolation I couldn't agree more! I'm teaching lessons remotely to my classes who seem to be taking it all in their stride. That said, I have been searching a little more frequently for my dream project! Thanks as ever to the Forum for educating me in all things E-Type r...

Re: Is the end near?

I don't think the end is near, but barriers to entry are principally cost for me personally. My Mini RSP (1650 of those made) was cheap (£2k) in 2009 and I've spent north of £12k to bring it up to a decent standard. Would that have bought me an E Type in 2009? I was able to afford it as a trainee te...

Re: Bad day for Jaguars

Would you say there is a general cooling off in the market?

I live in hope that I can purchase one, despite having had my eye on one on eBay which will need a lot of work. The price is rather off putting for what appears to need doing based on 12 photos.

Re: Thought and Contemplation

Its been a while since I've visited the Forum but thought I'd post on this. I have a Mini Cooper that I bought in 2009 - a limited edition model which needed £12k worth of work in the form of bodywork and an engine rebuild. I guess you could say the influence of my mother and grandmother played a pa...

Re: New to the forum and looking (dreaming) of an E-Type

The car is non-matching numbers and no service history. I'm more interested in driving it rather than as an investment, but does non-matching numbers have a big impact on value?

Best wishes,

Will

Re: New to the forum and looking (dreaming) of an E-Type

Dear all, Many thanks for your replies and advice regarding the 2+2 and the value of getting them inspected. I certainly do not wish to buy unseen over the internet - are there any particular people you recommend for inspections on site? Mark - many thanks for sharing your experience in this regard....

Re: New to the forum and looking (dreaming) of an E-Type

Many thanks both for your replies. There is one thing that bothers me slightly about the 3.8 in that it may have had an accident at some point, and the picture frame has been replaced with a roadster's. The details are somewhat hazy and there is no history with the car apparently... although I'm wai...

Re: New to the forum and looking (dreaming) of an E-Type

Dear all, Many thanks for your replies. I am restricting myself to searches and enquiring where necessary to find out more about a car in my price range. Without wishing to divide opinion, what are your views on importing a US car? I have found a couple of S1 FHC, one is 2+2 and the other is a 3.8 -...

Re: New to the forum and looking (dreaming) of an E-Type

Steve/Julian, Many thanks for this recommendation. Have since purchased the book, and have to say somewhat inspired by the fact he was a teacher and managed to do the restoration. I'm looking forward to reading it! I am keeping my eyes open for a 2+2 in the hope something will come along! Best Wishe...

Re: New to the forum and looking (dreaming) of an E-Type

Many thanks all for your responses. Julian - how did you guess?! My partner was thinking much along the same lines, but fear she is regretting it! She has offered me the chance to drive it again so I might shut up for a while but will need to get it sorted out. I have followed a number of E Types on...

Re: New to the forum and looking (dreaming) of an E-Type

Many thanks for all of your replies and apologies for my very tardy reply! I had the pleasure of driving a 1964 3.8 E Type courtesy of a birthday present for a few days and can safely say it was a wonderful experience. To have other road users wave and be courteous was a treat too. It has not cured ...

New to the forum and looking (dreaming) of an E-Type

Hi all, My name is Will, based in Dorset. Definitely an E-Type enthusiast, and have built the old Airfix kit and have enjoyed looking at an array E-Types at shows and car auctions alike! I currently own a classic Mini Cooper RSP (1990) and have been looking at E-Types to further augment my classic c...
