Re: Dashboard light broken off

I have the same problem. I bought one from SNG and it came with the backing material. It's a little hardboard insulator to keep the lamp socket from touching metal (ground). I'm trying to decide myself if there's an easier way than cutting the old rivets etc etc since it's in an inaccessible place. ...

And ride height calculations in reference to the differences in tires should be made using the radius not the diameter. Hub to ground. Using diameter would double the difference would it not?

AGS605 vs BS3628 Cheney clamps

Hello. When did jaguar switch from or perhaps more correctly when did Cheney switch from AGS standard to BS. I believe it was late 63. My 62 has original AGS clamps. What say the experts?

I don't think my sill twisted bc it remained bolted to the subframe throughout. It's the right side wing that is about 1/2 inch out. Even tho the left side lines up nicely

I am having this exact problem. Right wing is slightly out whereas left wing lines up pretty darn well. You mention the wing can be adjusted in to a degree. How?

Thanks for any info!!

for what its worth, I ordered clamps from the above named supplier and found them inferior in quality and construction to the originals. I..and my mechanic were concerned not just about cosmetics but the ability of the clamps to hold. Just one man's opinion. I returned them and looked for originals ...

For what its worth. A machine shop measured a 3.8 flywheel for me and it was 1.278 inches. He was not sure of the history on it

thanks David. any and all help is appreciated.

if you have a chance to measure from the base of the ring gear to the surface of the flywheel. I'd be curious to know that too.

My concern is that it might fail on me if it's too thin and take my legs. the face was badly scored either b/c it was surfaced poorly in the past or the clutch caused very uneven wear. I've had two machine shops that do jag's say I should be fine, but I had one shop say he had a flywheel break up on...

it was very badly scored and apparently had been resurfaced unevenly by a previous owner...or bad clutch wear or something b/c one 1/3 was worn more than the rest! Not trying to lighten it at all. I cannot get a good measure of a 3.8 in it's original state, but I was wondering if it was thinner, so ...

no thoughts on this?

If I could know the original thickness of a 3.8 flywheel from the base to the face, I would be much obliged.

I believe sheets with this pattern are available from www.astonservicedorset.com

Apparently, this cross hatch pattern was used for door jambs on 60s astons.

Series 1 3.8 flywheel questions..

Is there a minimum thickness for a flywheel? Does anyone know the original thickness from the base of the ring gear to the surface of the flywheel? I'm looking at at least 40 thousands off mine and it probably was resurfaced once before I owned the car. Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated!!

The lack of a correct commission plate would worry me. The car seems to be a 1964 3.8 yet they say it was first registered in November 1965. Not unheard of but I would want to know why. It appears the registration says 1-11-65. In the USA, that is January 11, 1965. -9 Compression head 3.8s were also...
