That looks like the 1500rpm mine gives when driving 60 mph. (I wish it was true) I will order a conversion set this weekend. Thanks for your replys.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply. Spidya is where i am planning to buy the conversion so i saw this page. I think my wiring is ok and the problem is inside the tacho because the problem already existed with the the original lucas distributor.

Hello, my rev counter is not idicating the correct amount of rpms. It looks like half of what it should be , at 60 mph (100km) it is indicating about 1500 rpm. I am using a electronic ignition, Powerspark 45D6 but had the same problem when driving with the conventional distributor. My rev counter is...

And after some time we started the engine today :oops: , everything looks fine. No more steam coming from the spark plug holes, some vapor coming from the ventalation , but not water so normal i understood.
Happy again :D

We are now sure it is the head gasket, when we pressure tested the cooling system a hiss was coming from allmost all of the cylinders (spark plugs removed). When i removed the gasket there were signs of leking between all off the cylinders. I think i messed things up :oops: when putting the head on....

Thanks for your ideas, there was some mayo on the radiator cap. Very little but the engine only has 100 km. Why not replace it with a modern alternator, i put in a lucas a127 with built in regulator.The cost is about 70 pounds. Works great :D

Today i found out that the little piston which opens the reaction valve on the master cylinder tends to stick now and then if somebody pushes the brake pedal. Could this make the pedal hard (no power assistance) if you press the pedal for the second time in a few seconds?
